ESP MusicCord

Hey Bob do you know Jim Anderson? If not, he's the former President (2009) of the Audio Engineering Society. For what ever reason he uses and is a big supporter of MusicCord. His endorsement is posted on MusicCord's web site. website:

Pro Audio Improves Recording Quality Reduce Noise Listening Fatigue | Essential Sound Products

Why would a pro audio professional of Jim’s stature endorse MusicCord? Any one who may be interested can also check out the other recording, mastering and broadcast engineers comments about using MusicCord that are posted on their website.

Not being a smart ass, but could you tell the difference between a QSC power amp and, say, a Carvin power amp under a similar ABX test? I think I could tell the difference of most octave pedals as I've had the most experience with them. I definitely wouldn't bet money on it though.

Maybe, maybe not. Power amps aren't as amazingly simple as power cords, but they're designed to do the same thing, and if they do that well they're more likely to sound the same.

I would think so as well. This is why the story sounds, well, 'third hand' if you get my meaning. (The next section below makes this story sound unlikely as well...)

Did that happen? You didn't mention that he swapped out the ac cables repeatedly. That's pretty ambitious at the gig! You also mention that he paid for the ESP cord on-the-spot. Was there a dealer at the gig? This sounds sketchy as well. I've never seen a sound company or backline provider (even when it's Fender, Gibson themselves, etc...) sell a product in this environment. I suppose it's possible, but not probable.

For you information there happen to be some one there who did in deed have some for sale(an authorized dealer).

Please don't call me a lier. All you have to do is contact Chris Poland and he will gladly tell you his experience and the fact that he purchased the ESP power cord right there on the spot.

What would I lie for and include him in a lie?

OK, just dragged the 69 SVT out...BTW, damn do I love that amp! Always hate carrying it but I love plugging it in!

Anyway, no difference that I could detect, and I had it cranked pretty loud but clean. I tried very hard to hear differences, and when I thought I could, I'd plug into the other cable and hear the same thing.

Thought about doing a recording test, but they don't prove a thing, really. And especially in a dinky little home studio with the cheapest of gear like mine is, I thought about it and I just don't see the point in it. I'd rather get Rich's cable back to him quicker.

So I would like to thank Rich very much for sending me his cable to try out, and I shall get it back to him tomorrow. As for me, I'm convinced that there's no difference between the ESP and some cheap computer AC cable that comes free with your computer. I don't think I'd recommend using a skinny cable like that with an SVT, but you certainly don't need an expensive one.

BTW, I won't call anyone a liar when they say they hear a difference, but I will say that I didn't hear a difference, my wife couldn't hear a difference when she helped me do the blind test, and I'm convinced there's no difference.

Well, we already have a problem of interrater validity since I've got a different product than Jimmy tried. Not very scientific.

I'd send you mine to try, Jimmy, but I don't want to have to play with my other cables on my gigs for two weeks. ;)
Sorry, but that's a total copout. The guy makes the same claims for both.

Yes, I know Jim very well. He's a recording engineer but not a technical guy, at least not to the point of understanding power cords.

Interesting. So someone who makes a living evaluating sound quality, but doesn't know how power cords work, doesn't hear what he thinks he's hearing?

A Groove is a Terrible Thing to Waste!
