That latest CD of hers is just totally sick. And I don't use that word lightly.

AMEN! Probably the coolest thing about Esperanza Spaulding is that she has really made a bunch of electric bassists develop a better appreciation for acoustic bass. The fact that her music is Latin oriented allows her bass to groove in a way that more pop oriented players can appreciate.Between her playing and singing, it is hard to think a more talented new musician.

in my opinion, and how can anyone teach a technique they don't employ themselves?

Yeah, I had a chance to study with James Jamerson on electric bass, but I passed. I mean, really, did you ever see his technique? What could I have learned from that guy?
