Euphonic Audio iAmp Classic 1200 watt

Bumping this as I stumbled across the first used Classic I've seen a few days back and it just showed up. More cosmetically worn than expected (especially for such a young model) but seems to work perfectly and sounds fantastic. I typically play a Blue Rock and it's interesting how different two amps going for the "uncolored" thing can sound.

What are your impressions of the EA vs the Blue Rock?

Do you know if this model has had the modification made to the power supply section? If it hasn't, I would contact Larry or Gary at EA and see about having this mod done. I was very impressed with the increased slam and authority.

First impressions (with EQ sections and all options bypassed) are that it compares favorably in terms of clarity, but where the Glock is super immediate and focused in the low end, the Classic is deeper and warmer without sounding colored or voiced.

No idea. Is there a particular serial number when the switch was made?

Anybody played the Reiner Saturn V & the Ea iAmp Classic, thoughts on a comparison of both amps in terms of overall performance, headroom etc.
Edit: I’m a longtime Ea user, & the iAmp 350 has been a favorite of mine for years, even over the iAmp 800. I’ve also been intrigued by JGR’s creations, but have yet to pull the trigger on one.

I have both, and the output section is amazing in both amps. Each of them has volume/headroom for days. The Reiner is very reminiscent of a high end all-tube head, with lots of harmonic content, and great "texture." It is both warm and clear, which is not an easy feat. The EA is the more clear/clean of the two, and it seems incredibly transparent (though plenty full, as well). Both are exceptional, IME/IMHO.

What are your service options in Croatia, especially if parts are (or become) no longer available? Are you comfortable with this?

The very reason I moved on from DNA…I didn’t see them as being sustainable and then lo and behold, it was announced recently that David ended up closing things down. The customer service aspect was a big reason I chose Genzler…and not to mention they sound fantastic!

I know what you mean, just I didn't hear that these amps need service...

Every amp is moving to ICE modules with not that great DI... Whole marketplace is all the same amps with different EQ.

I know service is the thing. But, what kind of amps are they making today if you need to have service near just to think of buying it. Are they that bad... If you know what I mean.

EA amps are fantastic and very, very well made. I don't think the implication was that you can expect an EA amp to need regular repairs. I think folks are just trying to say that IF a problem occurs you would have to find a qualified amplifier repair person to fix it as you wouldn't be able to send it to EA to fix. As far as I understand, EA amplifiers should be repairable by a good amp repair person. They may not have an exact knob or lever or something if that is what is needed but as I understand it, EA amps should be serviceable by a qualified tech.

If it's verifiably in good working condition, I'd say go for it. EA stuff on the used market is nearly non-existent these days. It seems like a lot of people pulled the trigger on EA gear (remaining new stock and used) after the announcement.

NAD! I picked up an EA iAmp 1200
Classic yesterday, played through it a little bit today on my VanderKley 2x12. The headroom on this thing is crazy. Very powerful but precise and relaxed at the same time. Since I got that Dingwall, I’ve been looking for an amp that can do it justice. The search is over, I put my three other heads for sale (Eden WT400, Quilter BB800, Kustom KXB500).

Just one question for other owners: I left it powered on, muted, for a few hours, and the bottom gets rather hot. Is that normal? How hot does it get at gig levels? Should I put taller feet under it, or a fan base to get more airflow?
