Come on Dark, you know there is a certain tone somewhere that if you could have it, you would be happy.
Im sure you could get it with at least 1 of your 975 basses.

Flats on a J and tapewounds on a P is the epitome of sexiness. Just throwing it out there.
I need to get another P so i can have one with flats and tapes.
And on-topic, I don't really have a certain tone i'm looking for. It varies given the situation. That's why i'm running through 3 preamps.
Not exactly, one day I'm playing with a growly Spector style tone, next day, I'll be hitting a P with flats and a mute, next could be a sparkly clear solo-ish tone, or a singing fretless, or something dripping in fx.
Im sure you could get it with at least 1 of your 975 basses.

The tones that Hubert Eaves IV gets on Erykah Badu's live album....absolutely killer. Fat, punchy, growly.
I also love every tone that comes from the fingers of richard bona or marcus miller.

How could i forget....Anything Pino Paladino does on a P-bass is perfect to me. His live playing with D'Angelo has been a huge influence to me ever since i saw them do "Devil's pie" on TV a few years ago.

Its funny the amount of tones that are more modern compared to what I like. I guess I am old school!
