This one came to mind right away.
(as in very midrangey and ballsy, with a pinch of gritty growl).What bass is that? Looks like a Rick body with EMG J pickups (3 of em!), and a new neck off a bass I don't recognise.....yet it still sounded like a Rick!

I've only got a Jazz at the moment though, and I can't afford any other bass/amp, so all I can do is cut the treble and push up the mids to get close to the tone.
I love that tone too. Burpy, midrangy, smoothy sound. From what I've read, seen and could figure out, some of that tone comes from muting with the left hand though...technique factors in, I'm assuming. I'm new to bass so this is all new to me.![]()
