He's a remarkable player. But personally, I don't care for all of the V-Bass synthesis. I'd rather hear him play straight.
This... from Robert Plant's solo album, Shaken and Stirred. Some say it's Paul Martinez, some say Bob Daisley... not sure, but to me, this is an awesome tone.

Same here. Bringing the total of P bass tone I'd die for to 2. The first being Pino of course
If I ever were to leave my P and flats stage (which Im doubting!) I would go straight for the TimmyC tone. For sure.
Another one of that perfect tone, with one of my new favorite bands. I havent been this excited about a band since I found Incubus when I was about 7.

My favorite P bass tone(aside from Jamerson of course) is Paul Jackson with the Headhunters in the 70's.

Yep. Him and Pino are the two reason why I bought a P-Bass. I have to say it's quickly become my number 1 player over my JO5.
As much as I'm all for originality and as much as plenty of new bass players get it in their heads to sound exactly like someone else (I'm relatively new to the instrument), I would effing KILL to get Dick Lövgren's tone that he has with Meshuggah.
Here's a clip of him riffing over Tomas Haake's drumming that I listen to daily. Think less "bass" and more "power tool" and you're pretty close to his sound. From what I've been able to gather researching on the Internet and what is somewhat confirmed by the video, there's a Line 6 Vetta II guitar head involved.
