Experiences with bassstringsonline.com?

Just signed up at BSO. I wanted a set of Fender flats. I have a set on my Jazz and wanted another set for my Yamaha. I knew I wanted the same set as I have now and was about to select them and just now, for the 1st time, noticed their disclaimer that they only ship Fenders within the USA!....Aughhh
can you all recommend a set of flats closest in feel and tone to the Fender 9050L set?

no recommendations yet, but don't suggest Ernie Ball strings...BSO "can't ship internationally" as well.....

Shawshank (& Blindrabbit)......your glowing recommendations must mean even for us Canadians it is worth it to order from BSO.....delivery, US dollar, customs etc vs just going to my local music store?
and for sure BSO has incredible selection my store might not carry

as long as you don't want Fender or Ernie Ball strings....BSO can't ship to Canada.... just an FYI

by no means am I implying anything negative about BSO.......just information for Canadians and Int'l shoppers.....and I'd be 100% sure it is a contract thing with Fender/Ernie Ball about not being able to ship

BSO is great usually. I had to wait out backorders on occasion, but that happens. Would be nice if there were a little better communication when that happens, but Jason does an overall great job and knows his stuff.

We received a huge shipment from La Bella last week. Took care of SOME of their SKU's...

It is pretty crazy the amount of sets we deal with from La Bella. We are one of the only re-sellers they work with that actually handle all of their available part numbers...

For example with their flat wounds:

They have the following available for their 4-String sets:

Extra Light (FX)
Light (FL)
Standard (FS)
Medium (FM)
1954 Origianl (M)

Each one is available in the following scale lengths:

Short 32" Winding Length
Medium 34" Winding Length
Long 37" Winding Length (Jazz Bass / P-Bass Etc)
Extra Long 38" Winding Length
(And since we are Bass Strings Online we also have some made in 33" Winding (for new Fender Starcaster and Rascal) and even 40" and 42" winding lengths!

Each one is available in the following constructions:

Top Load
Thru-Body

So what this amounts to is this:

Extra Light: Short Scale, Short Scale Thru-Body, Medium Scale, Medium Scale Thru-Body, Long Scale, Long Scale Thru-Body, Extra Long Scale, Extra Long Scale Thru-Body. That is 8 Different versions of the 4-String Extra Light Version.

Then the same for Light, Standard, Medium, and 1954 Original.

That works out to 40 different versions of just 4-String Flat Wounds! We regularly stock all of these available options and constantly have them on order to refill future stock. Then you have to figure in 5 and 6-String sets... Then it is over 100 different sets of La Bella strings alone just to cover each individual option.

D'Addario has Chromes: Short Scale, Medium Scale only available in 45-100. Long Scale 40-95, 40-100, 45-100, 50-105, and Super Long 40-95, 45-100. That is a total of 8 Total Sets and their 4-String Flatwound production is covered.

There is a big difference in stocking 8 different sets compared to 40 different sets.

We do all we can to stock everything as our La Bella inventory is quite large and is always expanding as well as all manufacturers in our inventory.

Chrome singles come from a different section of D'Addario. We stock at least a couple of week supply as they take 7-10 days to receive from them. But we generally always either have them on order.

Message me your order and I will be happy to give you a more specific ship date.

The website does state of a product is or is not in stock when you select the specific gauges. It will state an estimated shipping window or say please call or email for availability if we don't have an expected ship date. And you can always ask us.
