The only times that I disobey my parents are when I forget, or when the rule they lay down doesn't make any sense.

They did that to me when I went on a field trip to OSU, which is about 60 miles away. It was for school. Mom wanted me to call when I got there. Problem was, there wern't any phones to be found, and I was really busy at the time. Had a big argument over that one.

Rock on

OK Eric, the only problem is your reasoning:D
Was it: "there wern't any phones to be found" or "I was really busy at the time"? You made the age old mistake...piling on.

One kind of negates the other if you know what I mean. If you weren't really busy, could you have found a phone? If there were no phones, what does you being busy have to do with it? I know I'm giving away parental secrets on breaking down kid-logic but there's sooo much more you don't know:D

The cool thing is maybe, one day if you're lucky (and you haven't already), you'll get to field these kinds of responses from your own kids. It's magical.

Believe it or not, i'm pretty obediant in real life. 'Cept the thing about getting offline at 11...that pisses me off. Dad thinks i'm gonna look at porn, so makes me get off.

Well...hello....i'm home alone allll in the day....i could just do so then....

Not like i do or anything. Really! Gotta believe me here! I don't! Awh, i'm fighting a losin battle :D

You kids are startin' to scare me.

Hey B-Ski, I know you didn't mean it this way but: "Dad thinks i'm gonna look at porn, so makes me get off"

Guess you don't need the porn after all:eek:

(sorry)

::demonic overlord voice on::
That's it...you're grounded, young lady.

BTW...what's shakin', Herb?

I see the off topic topic has gone off topic but I'm going to explain my name anyway.

My 12 year old sister-in-law thinks I'm a dork because I don't like Korn or N'sync or any other sh*t pop groups.
I always make her listen to Stevie Wonder or Earth,Wind and Fire.
Oh and I almost forgot, I was in a country band and I don't like country (she didn't get that).
Anyway she always calls my the dorky bass player to her friends.

It's not a good story but d@mmit it's all I've got!!!!:(

pretty one, but did anybody read something from H.P.Lovecraft?

Yea, but that was spelled Cthulu. There was another god, but I don't remember how to spell his name. Anyone know what it is?:D

Man, I'm getting behind. Two posts about me (sorta) and I just now saw 'em. :D

Anyway, yep, Ktulu or Cthulu came from Lovecraft. Hammett and Burton (from Metallica) both read Lovecraft, which is where the song came from. But they misspelled the name, and I took their's (easier to spell). So I guess my username is third-hand. Or something.

I've never read any Lovecraft (been meaning to, but I can't ever find it at the library), so I hope my name doesn't have any negative connotations I'm not aware of.

Now that I've bored everyone, in the words of the great Eric Cameron: rock on!

actually, the spelling is cthulhu, and the character is a dark god, a giant with the head of an octopus - they also got the song "the thing that should not be" from master from the same character, in fact that is the title of one of the stories.

if you are interested in reading about it, the books are fairly common in any book store in the horror section. published in anthologies by del rey, there are...

1. "the best of hp lovecraft - blood curdling tales of horror and the macabre"

2. "the dream quest of hp lovecraft - dreams of terror and death"

3. "the trasition of hp lovecraft - the road to madness"

these are, like i said, anthologies, collections of his short stories. all good reading, definitely classics.

See, JT, it's so much easier to spell it Metallica's way. No weird silent letters. :D

I didn't realize "The Thing That Should Not Be" came from Lovecraft, too. Ya learn somethin' every day. I'm gonna have to go look for those books again. I've been looking in the sci-fi section. Shows how much I know, I guess. :)

Thanks for the info, John. Later. :)
