im a hopeless OD/dist/fuzz addict
I currently own a Rat Tail, Joyo OJ, Fredric Green Russian muff, mastotron and IE Oxide but I want MORE
Any suggestions for turf I haven't covered ??
I play a lot of different styles of music from punk/metal to jungle and Dubstep so I'm open minded to any suggestions.
Hanx
I have a three levels of dirt at the moment using my darkglass duality, darkglass b7k ultra, tech 21 sans amp RBI. I use the ins and outs on the RBI to run the RBI and b7k ultra parallel to each other.

Clean tone is b7k ultra with distortion switch off and sans amp RBI with a little grit. I mainly use that tone on ballads like this one.

My main overdrive sound that I use to cut through heavy guitar parts is the same except I turn on the distortion footswitch on the b7k ultra.

My over the top dirty tone is the duality fuzz which goes into both the RBI and the b7k ultra (with dirt off)

I'll be able to post more sound samples in a couple weeks when the album is mixed if anyone is interested. Here's all the settings I use

Some sort of bit crusher, I know I'd like one that does the job better than the one in the Zoom B3, though with a bit of ring modulation and additional effects added it can get pretty odd 8 Bit computer game soundtrack glitch like.

A Fender Blender clone, the nastiest, harsh, ugly, broken kind of over the top out of control fuzz I ever heard. An electronic engineer friend of mine promised me to build one for me sometime later this year.

Maybe a Hartke HF44 Bass Fuzz, not as special as the other pedals I suggested, but it has this sort of punchy raw mid focused sound to it.

Some samples can be heard here (try the metal, doom and rock ones): Invalid Link Removed

Finally I would recommend the EHX Operation Overlord overdrive pedal, that does a great gnarly high gain overdrive/distortion thing, according to this demo (bass starts at 2:59):

For a super versatile budget dirt pedal check out the VHT V Drive. Can do a ton on its own but works great with other pedals for extra tweakability. Lately I have been using it into fuzz pedals and the depth control alone can make a huge difference to the fuzz's tone, it basically lets you fine tune the low end response which changes how the highs and mids behave, maxed out and you get a deep muff like tone and all the way down and you just get mids and highs for a super open tone. There are 11 depth settings so you can get anything in between too.
