If I remember correctly, when he was having it built, he had a friend of his build it for him.

Yes ! That's exactly the one...! Man, I've got to start learning to check up on my assumptions :p

I just say that body end design and thought that it screamed Alembic - but on the other hand, I was imagining insane figures for the cost of such a beast if it indeed had come from the Alembic custom shop !! :ninja:

But yeah... perhaps he's really good friends with an Alembic builder...??? :D

I still can't believe it's mine! I have to be honest and say that I two of my computers have these pictures as my desktops...I still just love to look at the bass, and I can't wait to open the case and grab it every chance I get...

Somewhere on one of these related threads about weird basses, somebody linked to Invalid Link Removed. I think it's Dutch. The picture is from a post deep in that thread.

In one of the replies, someone responds with something about Disney After Dark. That must be the DAD. I've never heard of them. It's probably one of them youngen' bands with them electrified guitars and such that us old timers don't know about...

Yep, that's Dutch, alright - can't read it well enough to spend time on a forum in the language, so I didn't know that place.

But yeah, D.A.D is short for Disneyland After Dark, which was their original name until they ran into some trouble with copyrights and brand protection laws - and then they permanently changed to the abbreviation. They have been around since the 80's, but they're not that well known outside of Denmark.

The bass player also has a rocket bass that shoots sparks out the tail end and some other crazy stuff, and he's always dressed in spanky latex suits when he's not half naked as in that picture above :p

Might be, I haven't seen it in person. It is Copper though and Jens said he had a real hard time capturing the true color and said that these pictures were not good at all, but the best out of three camera's he could get.
