Yeah, Jean Baudin's basses are definitely extreme - I love the look of his Alembic and the Pacman Bass...!
I also have a bass that usually separates people who see it into lovers and haters pretty quckly; the Ritter Platinum Roya Concept. It is carved out of one single piece of mahogany and has a very rare piece of purple kingwood for fingerboard, so the entire bass is only two pieces of wood...! Everything but the fingerboard is platinum plated with an old gold plating technique, made the more difficult by the fact that platinum is much harder than gold. On top of the platinum there's a coat of clear lacquer for further protection.
There was originally a 0.5 carat diamond as 12th fret position marker, but I had it replaced with a fake to lower costs. There are no other fret markers at all.
The pickup is a custom RMC piezo system, and the bass has no magnetic pickups. That's part of the design concept, which is "as smooth as possible", and that's also why the tuning system is like on a headless bass, but mounted on the back.
Currently the bass is mounted with DR Peacock Blue strings.
