Facebook? More Like FAILbook...

My main problem with facebook now is that my ENTIRE FAMILY is on it. I can't write anything without my parents, cousins, etc. reading it and/or making embarrassing comments. For example, the other night I had a late night out with friends and I wrote about it, and my dad decides to leave a comment saying something like "You shouldn't be out that late" and basically tries to chastise me over the internet. Ridiculous.

I know I would end up hurting a lot of feelings if I just deleted them, so I may have to give facebook up. Yet another facet of life where I'm no longer allowed privacy from my snooping family. :o

So block them and tell them you deleted it. Or just remove them and create a new one.

i used to spend time on facebook. when it died for me is when you no longer had to have a student email to get an account. now i have elders in my church trying to send me invites for games and mess. total waste of time. my wife now has an account. she wanted to know about someone she's not friends with. i logged on to see and i had like 25 friend requests. i don't spend any time on there anymore. it was great when it was different. now it's just a myspace/twitter wanna-be.

So I'm the only one who likes the new page design?

Not if you read my previous post :p

The only part I don't like is that they kicked out the front page's visual hierarchy. I click on a profile, and it's all neat with little tabs and enough white space to breathe.

But on my home page, I see a tiny tiny picture of who I am, then a big button at the left, then a bigger bubble asking me to express myself, then WHAMMO full-size semi-relevant "chosen news" with an ad on the top. All at the freaking same height. Amidst all of this is a "welcome, L-A" I don't really see until I get used to the rest.

Just putting the rightmost "chosen news" and the buttons on the right a little lower, starting where the "main" news start, would have pretty much cleared the problem.

Here's a super-quick mock-up to show what I mean.

What annoys me most is that i'm reading everything now. I don't want to see everyones wall posts and everyones status change every 30 mins and still see their old one.

I preferred it saying what was going on where, but not actually showing it.

I noticed this yesterday when I logged in....And some of the content on MY home page was a guy having a wall-to-wall fight with HIS girlfriend. I don't need that BS on my page.

Like I care about every single minute of everyone else's day....I mean, really, did they need to include everyone else's drama on my page? Now, if friends from work drop by and read it they see a heated, one sided conversation arguing about if a local band sucks or not and a one sided conversation of a guy arguing with his girlfriend using all manner of expletives.

Stupid.

There's someone on TB here with insomnia, I forgot his name, but basically he's updating his status every 2 hours to say he can't sleep :D

Sorry buddy, but I blocked your newsfeed :D

And yes the new design sucks.

Besides having to click like ten times to get to where I want to get now, my biggest problem with facebook has always been the ex-chicks lurking on there. It's like walking into a bar full of all the chicks you tapped but wished you hadn't.
+1.

Lots of stalkers/exes that keep inviting me and asking people I know if I'm on there yet.

I never understood the "poke" feature either.
