FWIW, I pair my BS (always on) with a VMTD......tone heaven for me. Gives me that awesome vintage Rick tone.
I sold my barbershop in favor of a Lehle Sonic Spark. I was using it with active basses though.
I built a Barbershop clone for myself the other night. MAN... cool! I've never played thru an overdrive pedal before that could do the low gain thing so well. And be so touch responsive like a tube amp (I only play thru tube amps BTW).
So I had these two battle for the OD spot on my board and am "happy" to report that the Barbershop will stay.
With a little push from my DG Supersymmetry (low output Jazz Bass) it still delivers my favorite slight, always-on OD tone.
Don't know what it is. It's just so nice and dry.
The Grizzly's pretty great too, but it had some sort of "fizziness" to the drive that I couldn't dial out. With regards to some people saying that the BS has some kazoo-like quality to it: It seems to me that this pedal is really all about the interaction of Sag and Drive. Low Sag (11-12ish) and low Drive (11ish) deliver my favorite tones.

Nah, that's just the photo-filter. It's red. The Unpleasant Surprise has a yellow one, though.

OK, I'm in. Got that Accountant and liked it so much I got a Modèle B.

I use mine in a loop w/a Tender Octaver and a Sweeper. I have it set to hit the wall really hard. The three together make a very convincing synth tone ala Chameleon.

it's also great. I dig everything that Guillaume Fairfield designs and makes.
I'm loving the Four Eyes, and glad I got my hands on another Barbershop. Is the Accountant "redundant" with the Barbershop?
