I love my accountant. I have other compressors so I don't necessarily use it s a clean-only compressor. I do have it set up as one of my favourite mild overdrives right now. It is amazing for it's size.

I love my accountant. I have other compressors so I don't necessarily use it s a clean-only compressor. I do have it set up as one of my favourite mild overdrives right now. It is amazing for it's size.
I posted this in the what's coming thread. I'm not that great at making demos and this is the first time I really play around with a delay. Just me messing around with the Maude. Clean then Maude on, then Maude into a JohnK Orange Preamp at very low gain, then Barbershop into Maude, then Maude into Bajo Mos to have high breakup in the preamp tubes. The preamp is a UA 6176 with the compressor on at light settings. I am sure there will be much better demos in the near future.
Got my Accountant tonight. The verdict: The 6:1 and 12:1 settings are WAY too squashed and fast on the attack for bass, but for chicken pickin on a Tele it would be about as good as it gets. The 3:1 setting on pad 1 (reduces the compression side of the circuit by 8db) gets a really cool vintagey, tubey sort of compression and overdrive. The verdict is still out for me on this one until I can try it in a band setting. I might end up selling it and getting a Diamond BCP-1.
^3:1 / pad-1 is how I used it most of the time. I found 6:1 / pad-0 to sound pretty great for rock when I had it--gave me plenty of sustain and seemed to thicken up the mids just a bit. Like all of Guillaume's pedals though, it does have its own sound that may or may not float your boat in the end.
It sounds great, but might have a little too much of its own personality for my taste. That's based on playing solo. We'll see how it sits in the mix on Monday. The compression and overdrive characteristics might be a good thing once the drums, and especially guitar get going.

The Maude also has its own sound, not just a delay. This makes me want to try another Fairfield pedal sooner rather than later.
Just had a rehearsal with my Accountant that completely changed my opinion of the pedal. It was up for sale, but now it's sticking around. Ratio 0 (3:1), pad 2 (0db), and volume at unity gain was absolutely magical in the mix.
That sounded like someone about the get an IRS audit.
Just did a festival gig where the backline was an SVT-CL and an 810e. The Accountant in front of the SVT was a little much. I left it on for the whole gig, but in retrospect should have turned it off. The stage was running hot, so I had the SVT cranked and didn't need any additional compression or OD. Lesson learned. On my GK/fEarful rig it's great for bringing some of that flavor, but with the SVT, it was just too much of a good thing.
