Fake Jazz Bass???

Right, ya , thanks guys... It must be fake. I guess the serial was why I was hopeful lol, but ya its probably a Johnston or a Squire! Thanks everybody!

I got exited thinking that it's a 1970's and it might be but all it says for serial numbers in the data base is S6, S7,S8,andS9+5 digits, but nothing that starts with S3. If there is such thing as an S3 serial then Id be confident but the other reasons I think it may be fake are the made in USA is basically all rubbed off on the front, and the serial number looks shotty, like almost like its a decal but the Fender Logo and Jazz bass look pretty good, Also its Red with a black pick guard and a rosewood fingerboard with no binding or squares in the frets , just dots. But the style of the Fender logo and Jazz bass look like the 70's style! Can someone who knows more about them help me.

Looks like a P neck (nut width looks wider than a Jazz) but not a Fender. Wood grain looks Korean or Indonesian. Fret board wood looks too light maybe not a real rosewood. I’ve had waterslide decals move during the install and that decals looks that way and it looks like the wrong colors. Not sure about the body color for a 70’s. Looks fake overall.

Not a Fender, headstock is off but the real tell is the bridge, the front two screws should not be there.

On a real Fender Jazz Bass of 70s vintage, the "S" serial number would be on the face of the headstock just below the "Fender" script...preceded by the words "Serial Number" in small print. On this example, it's on the back of the headstock...thus, not an original 70s Jazz. Stay away or, if it's a player, don't pay more than 200 bucks for it.

Ya, those are some of the things that were throwing me off too, especially the light fretboard. almost looks like that Pau Ferro kinda colour!

Also the 70's Fender Decal and serial numbers were underneath multiple coats of clear finish so the logo isn't likely to rub off without sanding through the finish.

Forsure. See , I was hoping even if it wasn't 70's, maybe it was still authentic or like a Mexican parts bass, but at this point it looks like its some other brand completely(possibly Johnston because the PUPS say Johnston EMG, or a Squier.
