Its a little disheartening to read here how people can lose sight of the ball over time ..and embrace a few words from an unethical internet character.
This guy was caught selling knock off KS basses on Ebay advertised as Ken Smith basses...false advertising and violating keyword spamming policies. He thought he wouldent get caught because he's far away in Brazil (and maybe who would care anyways ?). His attitude and ethical stance when confronted was to thumb his nose at the manufacturer and Ebay by becoming a slippery username entity there....and tried to continue along his path with no consideration care or respect to anyone else..but just for his right to "make a living" as HE put it.
When he became a little more aware and educated as to the scope of Talkbass and the impact on his marketplace ( ironically an army DID stop him lol!), he changed his tune like he changed Ebay names..and with the same amount of sincerity and integrity.
Now he's playing Talkbass members here... claiming on one hand that he didnt know any policies and innocent ignorance and meant no disrespect (something that goes directly against his inital reaction, spirit and statements to Ken Smith privately) and on the other hand, claiming to be a smart Dude with degrees and multi language facility.

Now..some people want to help him out.

Say the word and I can delete my first post and make it all go away..

BUT, this is the same guy that when I caught him the 3rd or 4th time using my name he told me I would need an Army to stop him.:ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

Now he wants to be forgiven and forgotten?:crying: :bawl: I don't think so! :scowl:

If he had stopped after the first time and didn't play his silly childish games with several names and accounts on Ebay and even LIE to me about them, then it would be a different ball game.

Three strikes and you're out! Why has he had 4 and 5 strikes?
Ken, i never asked to be forgiven of anything nor forgotten!.... never mind. it is not worth argue about this any longer.. have a good one.

Hey Luchi,

Here's a little business advice for you:

You note within this discussion thread that you plan to move into improving your building skills and design bass models of your own. Excellent decision. It's now time to go forward with this plan

* part of that will be accomplished by letting this thread die. this can only happen if you cease to post further replies

* follow thru on your newly adopted idealogy and resist the temptation to keyword spam (or something even less ethical) in any advertising and/or aution you participate in

* establish yourself as a builder with integrity: let your word become golden by avoiding even the smallest hint of something that could be perceived as misleading

* establish yourself as a builder of quality: let your wood choices be only of the best woods available, all properly seasoned and acclimated, and always with the best grain orientations

* become a TB member who contributes positively to the TB community at large, establish yourself as a contributing member of the Luthier's forum, and find ways to share what you know from experience with others who are looking for solid advice from experts who know from experience

* follow the Commercial User Policy with diligence. when posting a reply or new thread, be sure to err on the conservative side rather than posting to the side of pushing the rules

* build a reputation that is so positive that the TB community will view you such that this discussion thread is the exception rather than the expected

It's a difficult task to accomplish, and it will definitely take time. Run the race, work hard, establish yourself with integrity, and EARN yourself a positive reputation.

all the best,

R

alright now my not so nice advice

You did something wrong

and something that can really get you in legal trouble if you were in the US

My advice to you is to STFU and take whatever insults you get

He had the right to talk to you in a mean and disrespectful mannor you STOLE his designes and you were potentially RUINING his name

You don't even understand the dammage you can do selling your basses as his

You are still being burned because you are defending yourself as if you did nothing wrong

You think you're helping yourself but you're really not with every post you have here you are ruining your name

Well, as Tim (our friendly neighborhood MODERATOR stated earlier), Luchi is now on TalkBass. I know I've read somewhere on here about respect to all members. Like this guy or don't... But save the name calling and disrespect for somewhere else, off the public forum.
I appologize for the wording with the STFU and all better wording would have been telling him just bite the bullit and just take it

No one's posting any false information about him and him defending his actions is only making things worse

Once again I appologize for my wording

I`m confused here. One mod posts to Mr. Luchi that "you have been warned" and another ecourages him. It seems that there is selective tolerance to who receives a bashing here on TB.

Look at the 11 string Wishbass thread where there is well over 10 pages of insults delivered to Mr. Wish. Wish hasn`t done anything wrong in my observations.

Mr. luchi has clearly done a no-no in my observation, and then backs it up with defiance. Then he is supported by a Mod.

I`m sure if the shoe was on the other foot and someone rips off one Mr` Luchi`s designs and sells it as an original, he`d be all over the person!

Is there some bad blood between TB and Ken Smith that I`m unaware of for a mod to support the wrong doings of a TB user?

Ken Smith has a right to be upset, and anyone with integrity would be too if it happened to them.

Just my .02

Here's a sincere question... And one I would love an honest answer to...

If Ken Smith wasn't here bashing this guy (or replace Smith's name with any other established luthier: Tobias, Conklin, Sadowsky, etc., etc. etc.), would all of you still be jumping on this bandwagon?

Certainly not all of you would admit it, but I'd be willing to bet that if there wasn't an established guy here making the statement, this would receive nowhere near the attention it has.... Like the one guy, just awestruck that Ken acknowledged his post. I mean, c'mon. :eyebrow:

"THE Ken Smith is here making an argument against some dude I never heard of, I know who I'M aligning with!!!" :rollno:

No disrespect to Smith (which is why I said go ahead and swap his name with someone else's). it's interesting food for thought, no???
A lynch mob looking for a cause, welcome to the internet :)

I think you're right to some degree, much of what I see here I perceive to be tribalism.

I haven't really noticed that too much on this site

altho I can say i sure do tie a good nuce :D

The issue is one that is a horrable ethical problem

The fact that he is here to say it upsets him only adds fuel to that fire

when you don't have the person being ripped off saying that they're mad you don't know that they would be.

I agree, however I do find the complaints to be a bit hypocritical coming from one of the most blatant cloners on the market. I find the clones here http://www.brooklyngear.com/ksdbass.php to be much more of a rip off in my opinion and the fact that he uses '60's J Bass & '70's J Bass and not Fender to sell copies is merely a semantical hair splitting to me as these basses are clearly "designed" to be as close to a Fender as legally possible and are well past morally acceptable from a design standpoint IMHO.

If these thoughts are frightening call me a name :ninja: (not directed at 69nites)

Actually, I am not a mod "emeritus" defines retired. Where did I encourage him? I plainly stated my opinion based on facts, double standards, and the rules is all.

Look at the 11 string Wishbass thread where there is well over 10 pages of insults delivered to Mr. Wish. Wish hasn`t done anything wrong in my observations.

Agreed, that's horse**** too. If you dig wayyyyyy back, you will find I've been in some heated debates defending wish, and the outright insults the poor guy gets, even if his basses are crap.

Mr. luchi has clearly done a no-no in my observation, and then backs it up with defiance. Then he is supported by a Mod.

No one is debating that false representation is a good thing, or that it was right to do so. Do you really think someone would believe those were real, unfinished XXXXX basses? That's besides the point though. Again, I am no longer a mod, did not "support" anyone, and was just posting my opinion on the subject. Sorry if some took it as me defying JT, that wasn't my intentions at all. However, even mods have the right to take part in threads stating their opinions too.

Is there some bad blood between TB and Ken Smith that I`m unaware of for a mod to support the wrong doings of a TB user?

Do I really have to say it a third time?
