Geddy Lee has never used a pick that I'm aware of, but he sure gets a pick like tone from his fingers.

I am 100% sure that he uses a pick from time to time.

I thought that I'd read that Geddy picks and plugs the strings of his bass with the nails on his right hand, which he grows out. It certainly looks that way, especially when he does the fast "flamenco" style thing. In any case, I have never seen a video of Geddy using a pick.

Oh, and start on an upstroke.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned Graham Maby! He is one of my favorite bass players...phenomenal.

Another one I haven't seen mentioned is Colin Moulding (XTC) he plays both but has used a pick extensively, see Mayor of Simpleton.

Stuart Hamm and Billy Sheehan have used them. Stu used them on the rhtyhm tracks for "The Urge", doubling up picked rhythm lines with plucked rhythm lines.

The fact that they used picks occasionally doesn't make them pick players. Hamm and Sheehan are finger players.

Squire and McCartney have occasionally used fingers but they are considered pick users.
