Don't mean to hijack this thread (if this post is not ok, OP, let me know), but there's something that has been on my mind for quite a while.
I've used the DI out on my amps many years and have always had good, or even very good results, no complaints whatsoever.
On the contrary, I usually get compliments on my tone from most sounds guys. Having a good sounding bass certainly helps.
My main amps are the DB 750 and the TH 500, both known for their good DI out.
I have no first hand experience regarding DIs, since my amps have always worked absolutely great, but does an external DI like the Radial JDI, Avalon U5, and the others mentioned in this thread really make such a difference?
Anybody ever a/b'ed those DI boxes with their amp DI out?
