Favorite bass for 3 hour gig?

Either my Smith or Xotic will be perfect. Both are about 9.5 lbs which for me is perfect. I can't stand "Fly Weights or Bricks".

Damn 3 hours is short? I used to play in punk bands, 20 mins at a time. 3 hours is the real deal to me. God bless ya to the 5 hour guys!

I love P basses, don't know if they all have neck lean but mine does. I will use it for one 1 hour set but not a 3 hour gig.

That said, my MiA P is much lighter than a MIA P Deluxe I used to have.

My first choice would be my '79 Ric 4001 AG. However, if the gig were in a place where I'd be concerned about theft, then it would be my MIM J.

My Ibanez SRT805DX. Very Comfortable and I can dial up a bunch of different sounds with it.

I will take my Roscoe LG3005 not because of the weight but after my left arm(elbow) reconstruction, something about their neck profiles just feel right at home

Plus that magic Roscoe sound to boot!

even though its a heffer, i'd bring the clifford roi 6 string. 35.5" scale, too..

something about that instrument is so amazing (well, everything is.) i love the feeling of the end of the gig on that instrument- really feels like its a part of me, as cheesy as it is to say that.

if i still had my carvin LB76, thing was featherweight and 34" scale. still did not have the sound of my current basses though, not by a long shot.

Any bass but my StingRay. After a while it feels like I'm fighting that bass to get it to do what I want it to do. I don't have that issue with my Fender P or Modulus Flea.

My SR1100 is my least fatiguing bass but I used to play my 'Ray 4 hours a night back in the day.

My bands' gigs average around 3-5 hours in length. I wouldn't even do a gig unless we were playing for at least 2 hours.

My 11 pound Stingray. I'm 60 and don't care; of course, I'd have to go into training a month before the gig! Seriously, balance trumps weight in this case. Wonderfully balanced instrument.

Same bass as any gig - my Roscoe Beck V. Second in line is my DJ5.

Using a Comfort Strap I've never found a bass to be too heavy.

A P or J bass. Not overly heavy, easy to play, and sound good.
