Favorite "cheap beer"??

When I moved to Texas, this was my go-to...super cheap and really decent.

Costa Rican lager.

When I lived in Pittsburgh, at 17, my favorites were Stroh's and Genny Cream Ale. When I moved to Rochester, NY 20 years later, I ordered a Genny Cream and the bartender said "so you're the guy who drinks that.." I finally found it again here near Boston at a Wegman's. It's the only time I buy 30-racks of cans.
From what I remember from my younger days is that too much Genny Cream Ale would make you a little unpleasant to be around the next day. 🤢

I really only drink beers when I'm playing music, going out, or doing yard work.
That's because beer typically makes me feel full (and slow down) before they make me feel tipsy.

Anyhow, I used to be a PBR guy, but between a move to Chicago and my 50th, Old Style is my go-to now.

I have been known to drink an Old Style or two, especially at Wrigley Field.
I went to Chicago & Wrigley back in 2019. I definitely wanted an Old Style, and was prepared for it to be absolute swill. I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I enjoyed it enough that I had several of them that day.

The cheapest beer I normally drink is Sierra Nevada. But if forced to go cheaper, it is definitely Miller Lite for me.

Ah yes, we called them Genny Screamers.

In other beer news here in upstate NY, a northeast chain called Stewarts (about 400 locations - a quick mart type place known for great ice cream) is bringing back their "Mountain Brew" brand of beer. Can't claim it's my favorite (probably was Matt's Beer Balls from back in the day, or Black Label), but for inexpensive beer, you can't go wrong.
Even the Albany newspaper got it right in their headline a week or so ago -

"Stewart's Mountain Brew, the late and unlamented lager, is coming back"

A few years ago the president of Stewarts came in to my classroom (I'm a former HS teacher) to be interviewed for the school paper, and he said when they initially stopped selling it, the beer was priced less than water per ounce, but Stewarts could make more profit selling something else.

I grew up in the Midwest, so it was often second- and third-tier stuff like Black Label and Old Style. Special Export when we were feeling fancy.

Upon moving to Oregon, it was Rainier pounders, of course. I never did take to Henry's.

Playing adult hockey in the '00s seems like some of the hosers would bring Kokanee and once somebody from Pittsburgh brought some iron city.

I agree with you about PBR! If I'm going to buy a cheap beer, it'll be PBR in 30s. And I say "if". I have not bought PBR in almost 2 years. Currently, I'm really impressed with Yuengling Lager in bottles.
It's great alright.
I can't get Yuengling in New Hampshire. A buddy was coming out this way to see us and passing through Troy, New York, which does sell Yuengling. I asked him to grab me a case of Yuengling bottles at Beer Universe in Troy. He showed up with two 24 ounce cans, which is far too much for me to drink in one sitting at this stage in my life. I was thankful he remembered to stop, but bummed he didn't get the bottles. Now I have to figure out how to open a can and preserve it for the few days it's going to take me to drink one.
