Back in college it was Stroh's. Fire brewed, so it had to be good.

Black Butte Porter is as cheap as I'm willing to go on my own nickel. I'll accept a Rolling Rock or even a PBR if freely offered though. If I only have 3 bucks in my pocket on my way to the weekly jam I might go with a Redhook 20 ouncer, but 8-9% IPAs are really not my favorite swill.I just went to the convenience store and bought a 4-pk of Hamm's tall boys for just $3.50. You'd think it would be the worst swill out there but actually it's a non-offensive adjunct-lager with good taste! I've had pretty much the most expensive craft beers $$$ can buy so I like to measure up the affordable classic offerings! Premium Grain Belt is one of my stables being from MN lol...
How 'bout you guys??![]()
It’s been almost 50 years since I had a Hamms, mainly because I didn’t live in the Midwest, and I never saw it for sale east of Ohio. now I live in the greater St.Louis areaI’ll have to keep my eye open for it.I just went to the convenience store and bought a 4-pk of Hamm's tall boys for just $3.50. Ugh I still have a Strohs headache from like 30 years ago lolBack in college it was Stroh's. Fire brewed, so it had to be good.
Good luck "staying on the wagon".I'm back on the wagon but Miller Lite was my daily driver for years and Busch Light or Natty were not out of the question.![]()
WOW! Iron City brings back memories! I remember my dad buying and drinking it way back in the late 1960s (I was about 15.)When I lived in Pittsburgh I tried Iron City,
Yeah, it certainly does bring back memories.....good times, but REALLY bad beer .....WOW! Iron City brings back memories! I remember my dad buying and drinking it way back in the late 1960s (I was about 15.)
I went back to PBR 30-packs for a short time, out of curiosity, when the brand experienced a resurgence amongst the hipster crowd a few years ago and even had the odd favorable review in certain foodie rags. After a few cases, I got sick of the sort of chemical bitterness masquerading as boil hops that PBR has, and switched to Rolling Rock.My favorite "cheap beer" is not down there with the official cheap stuff but it is somewhat of a cheap beer.
30 packs of PBR. I think it's like $19.99 here in Central Ohio.

But, if I may, my favorite all around drinking beer is Yuengling Lager. Must be bottles! (About $22 for a case.)

I agree with you about PBR! If I'm going to buy a cheap beer, it'll be PBR in 30s. And I say "if". I have not bought PBR in almost 2 years. Currently, I'm really impressed with Yuengling Lager in bottles.I went back to PBR 30-packs for a short time, out of curiosity, when the brand experienced a resurgence amongst the hipster crowd a few years ago and even had the odd favorable review in certain foodie rags. Oh yeah, I like Iron City too. When I lived in Pittsburgh I tried Iron City, Rail Bender, Duquesne … all pretty rough in their own way.
The standout was ice-cold IC light on tap on a hot summer day. Of course there’s nothin like them cold ponies from Latrobe.
