Favorite Female Bassist?

My personal favorites are Emma (Sick Puppies) and Paz (A perfect Circle) Chela (Coal Chamber/Sarasvati) Vanja (Triptykon) but then again I'm a big fan of my rock and metal.

Also, in response to the comment further up - I don't think using the term "female bassist" in any way negative unless a person is very clearly trying to be sexist about it or commenting more on gender/appearance than actual bass skill... I've always just thought of it as a way to easily rule out the tonnes of male bassists from a topic :P

I will admit I frequently look for threads using the term "female bassists" because I know I will find content that doesn't contain all the million great male bassists every other thread also contains. Not anything to do with "being good..for a girl" just because it's nice to find out about others of my gender kicking ass at bass, not just the boys. I have plenty of best male bassists in mind too :)

Just saw them live on June 14. They killed. Bridgett is a MAIN reason for that band, as she writes many of their originals. But she is not who most of the hetero guys are staring at in that band. Just the expressions on her face will transfix you watching Rachael Price.

I get what you're saying as far as attention in that band. My personal preference tends towards Ms Kearney :) Her one dimple is just too stinkin' cute hah! I would love to check them out live for sure. I've dug everything I've listened to thus far.

The one comment about being afraid of wandering into "pc" territory made a bit above this post must also realize that the reality is the women have been delegated for a long while to just that status ( "for a girl" ). I would not take from the monsters of music among our female contingent the right to shove all that back into peoples faces until the very notion itself becomes as ludicrous to all as it is to some of us. They have certainly earned that right and far be it for this knuckle-drager (sic) to fight their fight. They don't need me imo. Every person listed in this thread is a far better player than I am or ever will be. I have zero issue with it and just marvel in the personal note choices and talent in general.

Back to Bridget, my favorite thing about her was when she laughed and said she was "just a bass player who plays too many notes". Classic.

Agreed! (I'm a 63 year old male but love all tasty playing bassists. Check my avatar!)

Bridgett is a seriously good bassist. And she uses so many cool effects on her DB that I've never heard done before, and I've seen many. She is like Sting in that she never lets complex bass parts disrupt her singing, or vice versa. And, there is something sexy about her, too. There's a cool interview with her on youtube.

This is right. Turn off your damn monitor and focus and listen to the player. Can that player challenge you as a player and/or as a writer of that bass line? Carol Kaye and Tal W. can and will most likely do this.
