Comfortably Numb always gets me too, well just about any of David's solos in fact. Proves you don't have to play a lot of notes to have a great solo. Make that guitar cry or sing and you've got me.

I don't think I have any when I think about it. Solos just don't do much to me I guess. I love some wankery here and there, but not necessarily in the form of solos. 99/100 guitar solos just seem to be there because the guitarist wants to please his own ego, and that's not very interesting to me. I'd much rather hear melodies played on a guitar than what could be called a solo. I'm a huge Dream Theater fan, but most of John Petrucci's solos do nothing for me, especially when he goes into high speed mode.

99/100 guitar solos just seem to be there because the guitarist wants to please his own ego, and that's not very interesting to me.

That type of solos do nothing for me either.

Here's a great one I can't believe hasn't been mentioned: "Stairway to Heaven". It builds, it rocks. It's a song within a song, and Page plays it with emotion.

I also love the solo in "The Grass Roots"' "Temptation Eyes".
