Favorite Power Trios?

Nope, Brad was the only singer/songwriter/guitarist for Sublime. The bassplayer was Eric Wilson (Awesome btw) and the drummer was Bud Gaugh. Amazing rhythm section, they had an amazing chemistry together. Brad was actually a pretty good lead guitarist too. Too bad for drugs to ruin a great band. I love genre fusing bands, it's literally taking all of the music I grew up listening to and pancaking it into one sound, love it.

Greetings, all.

Yes - some great mentions - Motorhead (Lemmy, Fast Eddie, Philthy), SRV & Double Trouble, Scofield's Blue Matter band, The Minutemen (and Firehose was cool too), ELP (a lotta noise for 3 artsy folks), Rush (of course), Primus (with Herb on the drums), QOTSA's first record (heavyness.)...and a few of you danced around my choice but never quite landed...

So my vote goes to - King Crimson circa 1974.

Wetton, Bruford, & Fripp. Talk about POWER. They were usually on the verge of flying off the edge of the cliff, and often did. Lots of recorded output from this era, so check it out.

In addition, I gotta give a shout to Praxis - Metatron lineup - Bill Laswell, Buckethead, and Brain. Outerspace freakout acid blast-off...

Can't believe I forgot King's X!!

Does Morphine qualify as a power trio?

+1 on Mahogany Rush, forgot them too! ++1 also on Johnny Winter and Double Trouble!

Gotta check out some of the more obscure groups being mentioned here, sounds like really good stuff!

Beck, Bogert, and Appice. Only a couple albums. Beck quit because Bogert was showing him up at concerts. If you listen to the first album, you can feel the tension between them. I saw Beck and Bogert duel on stage. Beck would play a lick and Tim would play it back on bass. Too bad they couldn't get along.
