He wasn't. He's a dogmatic authoritarian. A good leader earns respect through leading by example. Instead of learning about his crew and adapting to the ship, he deliberately demeaned and created chaos within one of the best functioning crews in Starfleet. That approach is unlikely to result in a better functioning ship.Captain Jellico was certainly a douchebag, but the truth is he was a cunning and effective leader. He was great. Absolutely an a-hole but no one can say he wasn’t good at his job.
Maybe. But he was effective. He got the job done. He wasn’t nice but the crew of the flagship could’ve adapted if they had to. He didn’t create chaos. Some people got mad and complained and Riker asked him to adapt but that’s not how it has to work. They do as they’re told. And in the end they got the job done.He wasn't. I really liked the continung story lines in DS9. It was a great vehicle to explore the Star Trek Universe since you could bring in so much character development."Dammit, Jim: I'm a man of Medicine...not a man of VooDoo".
Because of this thread, I will make DS9 my Summer binge...that should go over great.
I did 24 a couple years ago, the wife almost left.
Seasons 1-5 are streaming on Amazon Prime...Where are you getting Babylon 5?
That made the part of my brain devoted to Star Trek facts twitch. You’re actually kinda sorta but not really talking about one episode from TNG.I'm not enough of a Trekkie to know the names of the episodes, but there was one episode of Voyager (I think? That's the one with Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway, right?) where they get caught in some kind of time warp and there wind up being three separate Enterprises in three separate timelines and they have to figure out how to get a message to the different timelines...something like that. That was cool.
There were a lot of episodes of TNG that I really liked too. Wasn't there one that was like a thinly-disguised rip-off of "The Last Temptation Of Christ" where Captain Picard is a farmer in France?
