Kills it every time, at every venue I've ever played them at...

The best setups I experienced were my Ric 4003 through my Peavey Mark III head over the (1970's) SVT cabinet. For the smaller amp, I would go with any Ric, Fender Jazz or Precision through my early 60's Ampeg B-18. It may be simple and not very powerful, but it is still the best sounding Bass amp I've had. If I were to fulfill my dream setup, I would have to go with any bass through the Ampeg V-4B head over cabinet... if I were just able to transport the damn folded-horn monstrosity!

I had the v-4B with the folded horn cab. It did sound great, about 15 feet away from it. Up close it always sounded like a mud-fest. Transported it once in the back of an old Ford Fiesta. I couldn't close the hatch, and it made the poor car look like a low-rider. Of course that was a whole lot better than lifting it into the back of my buddy's jacked up jeep. It took my back a week to get over that one.

Thus far, nothing has come to beat my AVRI 62 Precision plugged straight into a Sunn 2000s running into two matching JBL K140 loaded cabs. Strung with Roto 66s, it's gut wrenching.

Actually, any bass through that rig, really. I'm favoring my AVRI 62 Jazz currently, and my Thunderbird sounds giant through it as well.

Currently I'm liking my '65 Jazz -> '70 SVT /w 2 squareback 810's

Tonight I can finally check my Hiwatt 400 /w these cabs... I think I'll play my '73 ric and see what happens. It should go boom pretty well.

I think I can hear you from here. Would you please turn it down some? My wife likes the china cabinet arranged the way it is.
