fEARful part 13: the bad luck's done, son

I used the rattle can method as well. Looks real good from a distance, OK when close up. I'm more concerned about the sound of a cab. But the spray cans is a cheap route that can produce good results and re-applied when needed.

Quick question for Burningskies or any of the other fEARful experts here: what would the ballpark weight be for a 15sub?

I've just gotten a pair of lightweight powered monitors for our PA and I'm thinking of trying to build a very lightweight sub for really small clubs (we only put vocals through the PA right now but the drummer is toying with electronic drums, so I'd want a sub for that). Many thanks!

P.S. has anyone built a powered fEARful sub for PA? Would be a great project if a reasonably priced lightweight plate amp could be found. Maybe a BASH 500w? I'd love to see one of those in a composite Hoinsky AoN 15sub, heh heh.

i think i might be a fEARful member by this spring. ill have to talk to the GF's dad.

Just ordered an 'Art of Noise' 15/6. I've been watching the development of this ultra light build, and they seem to have settled on a great process/method/material. Expected weight is 37 pounds or so.

This cab should sound great with my 5 string P Bass and the Streamliner. 6 weeks out!

Dig this spec much more with my P Bass than with my J's. That is what I'll be using it with. I would not have taken the plunge if it wasn't for that weight spec on the Art of Noise build. That has me more interested than anything else.

That is no heavier than a lightweight 112! Pretty amazing, and of course, hard to not like the performance of that 3015LF!

I'm really looking forward to this one!

I guess the arrival of this cab will mark the end of KJung's cab reviews on TalkBass. Once you get to heaven, there's no other place to go.

:p I do like this spec with the Streamliner and my P a lot. I was never motivated to get one due to the fact that the weight was about the same as my other cabs that do a fine job for me.

But my gosh, if I can get one of these at 37 pounds... that spec totally blows me away. My Thunderchild 112 weighs 35 pounds, and my Berg AE210 weighs a touch over 40.

This would take 25 pounds of my current large cab that I use with my P bass!:bassist:

Edit: Literally just received the invoice for the 50% down from Art of Noise. Just paid it, so I am officially on the build calendar. I assume, given the holidays coming up, I'm looking at 6-7 weeks. So, mid to late January. Cool!

It is pretty funny how things evolve through the almost 40 years (man, that is scary) that I've been gigging.

First 5 years... clueless... don't want to even talk about it. Gibson basses involved.

Next 25 years.... fancy boutiques... Villette Citron, Tobias, MTD, Fodera, Modulus... whatever.. soap bar hell.

Next 10 years... J Basses.... stainless steel strings, ash/maple.... bright, zingy, grindy

Now..... P Bass and a 15 cab.

I figure when I'm 60, I'll get a Hofner, an SVT, play one final gig and then kill myself!

Kjung - I just used my Art of Noise 15/6/1 with a P bass and an iAmp 800 at my bar gig on Friday. We did three 1 hour sets in a small bar to a crowd of 200 (!) and it was quite an amazing experience. I'm sure you will dig the cab.

My guitar player called me a bastard as I one-handed the cab and did a few front lat raises in his face as we broke down after the set. FWIW, my wife can carry the cab up the stairs in my home with one hand as well.
