Hello all fEARful lovers...my name is Carmen, I'm from NJ and I'm just getting back into playing again after a 12 year hiatus...

During my time as a player, I played through mainly an SWR SM-400 amp that ran 2 Goliath 4x10 cabs...toward the latter part of my playing, I sold the amp and one cab to help finance an Eden Metro 2x10XLT combo that I would run with a 4x10 Goliath as an extension cabinet...it was/is a great rig with ALOT to offer

Recently, I'm considering downsizing everything....the Genz Benz stuff has really caught my eye...primarily the ShuttleMax 12.0 that I was considering running into one or more of their Uber cabs...

And then a few recommended fEARful cabs will probably be a better direction for me in order to attain as much tonal response as I'm hoping to achieve and still drop significant weight

So, I would love to hear more about these cabs but apparently they aren't carried by any dealers and I'm a bit reluctant to purchase without at least hearing them

So I have been thinking about the infamous "fEarful 1515 66" Cab and I am wondering -
can you ever actually crank it? My Current Markbass 4x10 +1x15 is an overkill cause If I turn it to 25% volume
on my amp drummer cant hear himself anymore...

There was a guy who made 2 of those for himself and it looks damn appealing but....when would I ever get to use them? Its 3.8KW of power handling....

So if anybody here has fEarful 1515 66's can enlighten me
how it is to live with this kind of power.
Then again I am doing spacerock and do like my bass earthshatteringly loud if possible
but most of the clubs around here are small...some of them even have 99db spl limit.

I don't run a 1515/66, but hopefully I can add some insight.

As you mentioned, there is the visual factor. You gotta admit having two 15" drivers stacked in a 4-foot tower of power is kinda impressive enough, but doubling it is even more impressive.

Second, if you run your signal clean (no overdrive or distortion) you can get surprisingly clean and clear sound down at 40Hz and below. As the Hz gets lower, it takes an increasing amount of power to generate an equal SPL. It just gives you more headroom without any risk of your speakers farting out.

Third, some people are doing outdoor gigs and not just indoor bars/pubs. They use the 1515/66 as their main/FOH bass cabinet.

Fourth, some people like the addage of "go big or go home". Remember people used to use 8x10s

I play a 1515/6 (a 15/6+15sub). And yes it's 'earthshatteringly loud'. Its also completely clean and goes lower than most any normal cab. And it also has more mid content than most any production cabs. The best way to describe it is that tone and feel you get by standing in front of a good professional PA stack, but just for bass.

I use mine for all gigs, coffee house to outdoor festivals.

If you wanna do that loud, just go for the double fEarful, and "when possible" it will be there for you. And like someone said, you can do outdoor gigs without any worries. My 15/6 will get loud enough to keep up with the loudest hard rock band when unmic'd, but I could see some of the extremely loud types of bands wanting a double whopper.

I have said this before, but IMHO it warrants repeating from time to time. The modular 15/6 and 12/6cube setup is really three rigs in one. The 12/6cube (or 12/6cube/1, in my case) can cover a huge range of gigs all on its own, and it'd be the ticket for sure for your <99dB gigs. The 15/6 (15/6/1) will cover just about any club that I play (with sufficient amplification), but when/if you want/need overkill, the two of them pair up very, very well.

This is such a flexible setup, and it can cover such a wide variety of gigging situations, I just feel the need to sound the trumpet from time to time.

Yeah, that's a good idea, too. But if you play any small room gigs, the more compact 12/6 is quite nice.

I dunno. I find my 1515/6 setup to be perfect for small gigs. Although the phrase 'you won't need to take a line out' does get used from time to time.

All you guys with the dual 15's must wear kidney belts. Holy SH*T. I just have a 12/6-12/sub with a GK 700RB-II and that's fricken loud. My only outdoor gig this summer (and only time I've used the 12/sub) I was pushing the GK hard but still had some left in the tank. Let's just say nobody wanted any bass in the monitors. So for most of use I would think a 15/6 or a 12/6-12/sub would fit the bill. I know some of us seem to be in Spinal Tap (I would if I could) but I can't imagine how loud some of these rigs get. 2x15/6 and over 1000W. All I can say is ROCK ON!
