Oh wait, you're using two cabs already. Sorry.

If you're using two cabs already, 150-200w per cab should be pretty powerful! You may want to make sure you're getting a hot enough signal into the Mesa. I think the Ashly should be capable of doing that though.

Yeah...I was running both Mesa channels at 8 or 9 and it was just where I needed it....but then it would overheat. Figured out I was running it too hard. Now that I have both channels where it won't overheat, I have the Ashly as loud as it will go without peaking coninuously (7 power 8 gain). The cabs are barely moving.

If it's overheating while dimed there's something wrong with it. Or it can't handle 8 ohm loads on each channel. My old 400+ would run cranked like a champ. Just get filthy doing it.

A word of advice - don't share your fEARful rig with the uninitiated, especially when he/she feels the need to eq the rig AS IF it were an underpowered wimpy 2x10.

My bar band played a huge empty room last night and I let the openers use my rig - an iAmp800 and AoN 15-6-1. Sounded great for their set but by the time we got up to play, I was hearing all kinds of strange distorted noises. I ran through the signal chain to find the other basssist had dimed the bass boost on his MXR di box and decided to add an additional 18dB at 100hZ on the iAmp. :rollno:

Needless to say, my amp quit soon after. The soonest my tech can get to it is a month due to backlog...

Never again. I've let others borrow my rig on two occasions and both times resulted in damaged gear.:scowl:

Yeah. That chaps my ***. There was this one guy who, everytime we played with them, wanted to borrow my rig and everytime I would tell him to watch the peak indicator and make sure it wasn't lighting up too much....every time, that light would be on the entire show. Last gig, I just told him no. Nothing ever got damaged....but that was enough for me. Sucks that happened, man.

Man That does suck!! I have let other use my Amp and Cab......But...BUT!!! I WILL NOT Let them Change anything on it!! I had my fEARful 66 as a back line for one big concert we did for Black history month...and yeah i had a sign on my amp reading pretty well that under no unconcern terms were the settings to be messed with or else!! I was On side stage the whole time i was not playing and setting it up between acts for each person and it was good....But yeah I Hate Knob turners!!!...if you dont like it the Bring your Own S**t next time is how i feel!!

On the subject of knob twiddling and our Fearfuls...what are the opinions on preferable outboard EQ setup and approach - graphic or parametric?

Obviously most Fearful users have enjoyed the incredible ability to "put in" and "take out" in a way most cabinets simply don't allow - just curious what everyone is preferring to use for maximum control and shaping.

Myself, I've had an Aphex parametric (four selectable bands) in my rack for some time and love much of its flexibility when patched into my Alembic F-1x preamp, but have given some thought to a graphic lately!

Actually, I prefer an amp that I don't have to eq (excepting some compensation for a room). But my only experience with eq-ing my fEARful is via an EA iAmp800, which has a ton of tone shaping options (4 parametric bands and 4 contour presets). A 31 band graphic might be fun though. :p

Took this picture of my 15/6 after putting on the new fEARful badge . It was in the sun so the bright green didn't show up much but it looks pretty cool on there .
