fEARful?

Also, allow me to clear something up. You say "I'm apprehensive about ordering custom cabs online." "fEARful" cabs are Greenboy's DIY line. The design plans for those are free, as far as I know. Greenboy's "Fearless" line of cabs are the cabs made to order from authorized builders.
Greenboy's authorized builders can/will also build the fEARful line of cabinets.

Does anybody know a reason why cab net volume and tunings are not published?
The plans are for free to built a cab but essential paramters are missing! It seems like there there is something free but not totally free to the crowed.

Net volume is simple to calculate from the plans.
Tuning was discussed and posted here back in the very early fEARful threads. It is around 45/46 for the 1x/6 boxes. I believe it's a bit lower for the "sub" (no mid driver) versions.

Wow I'm intrigued, what a response. See that's all I wanted to do, gauge the crowds a little, thanks for the replies everyone. The DIY aspect definitely strikes a chord with me, as I was just considering doing my own build, and was looking into cab measurements, volume, all that stuff. Having a blueprint would save me some killer time, speaking of which how does that process work? Do they charge me for the actual plans, then offer me optional parts etc?

Ooo.. ooo... I'll throw in pics as well

@brianvp ... I'm not as well versed as most of these guys about frequencies, crossover points and whatnot , definitely haven't been playing as long... but I can honestly say that I'll never play anything other than a Greeboy cab...
That said, this is my fEARful 12/6, a Fearless F210
I took a leap of faith and purchased the F210 without even hearing a Greeboy, other than on YouTube.. not even in the same ballpark, built by Paul Tollini from Scabbey Road... great guy... as far as the sound and volume these tiny cabs are capable of..
I've had the F210 as loud as a good 410 with more to give. Even used it for an outdoor gig just fine... the 12/6... this little thing blows my mind.. there's just no way possible a single 12 should be able to do what it does.. but it does.. EASILY! and begs for more. Just for giggles, I'm considering building a 15/6 to go with, or without my 12/6
Do what I did.. read the Greenboy thread here, sign up for the forum on the Greenboy site.. read more until your eyes cross.. ask questions, lots of questions... these guys are all awesome and willing to help...
Then buy one, and wallow in the pure awesomeness that is Greenboy..you'll never regret the purchase.
Robert

Ditto on making a blind purchase from Paul (scabbey road), and the amount of sound a little 12/6 will produce, and cleanly. In fact, now after 2 years of only using a 12/6 during many different types of venues, competing with a drummer who beats the hell out of his kit, and 2 guitarists with 2x12 cabs, I'm finally convinced I do not need another cab. My little fEarful 12/6 keeps up and I'm not even pushing it.

My 12/6 replaced a SVT 8-10 believe it or not. I hear myself better now than I ever did with a fridge.

DRINK THE COOLAIDE!

Please look at my post (#7). All of the answers at at the links I provided.
Sorry, but you are actually going to have to DIY in order to DIY. Right?

Just to clarify- a Greenboy authorized builder can build you whatever you want. fEARful, FEARLESS, Bassic, Dually, some also build BFM designs, and of course, custom builds. But the only Greenboy DIY designs available are the fEARful designs.

If you plan on going the DIY route, plans are available for download for free. There are also lists of vendors for all the components you will need to purchase. One of the vendors also sells pre-cut pieces of plywood in addition to a 'kit' of most of the components, known as a flatpack.

within an open discussion I'd rather expect more openness.
It's not a big deal to publish specs by numbers instead "hide" them between free plans specs
It looks like design should not be discussed by the crowed.

Generic folks seem to be more sensitive to pure tuning numbers rather than tuning versus net volume relations, so it dosn't make me wonder why discussions refered mainly to tinings. The net volume IIRC was roughly given by Greenboy, and he provided some space for forum discussion. I think that was the best sales gimmick possible.

Every pro designer knows that little deviation in design doesn't matter while the TB discussions was very busy on nitpicking, The designs was finished long before publishing.

There are some comparisons published, IE, a fEARful 15/6 is equivalent to an average priced 410, or something lke that. As far as publishing details of the FEARLESS designs, that would remove the incentive to use an AB for that line. The AB's do not make that much money on the builds as the construction is very robust and the finishing details can be quite nice, and there's even less to go to Greenboy for his thousands of hours of R&D. I suppose you could order one from an AB, dissect it and measure it once you get it, and spill the beans to the world, but that would not make you a very nice person. If you really are an open source kind of guy, the fEARful line lays it all out for you.

I'd wish an more open discussion based on specs,
an open source system means discovery of essential paramters "for free" to everyone. Instead I feel like debugging foreign progress.
An open source system like Linux tells how an open source system looks like
In current case it can't be totally meant "for free" and I assume marketing goals.
like: You can use my "system" for free but I'm helpfull in any question

What I can tell you is that either line will go lower than cabs you buy in a store. There are lots of extended range players on the forums that can attest to that. The cabs are also harder to get to fart out than most as well.

Specs themself are often not that helpful for comparison especially when many manufacturers juice up their own numbers.

Trendy? Uh, no. Neo classic I believe. Greenboy really nailed it with the Fearful, and the fearless designs are even more refined. Wonderful cabinets for anyone who isn't looking for something with a baked in tone.

I run a 12/6 with a Thunderfunk or a ART ProChannel II and Crest ProLite 2.0, and have been steadily gigging it for five years.
