fEARless F212: New cab design from greenboy!

I've done about 7 gigs on my F212. At this point I've gigged every FEARLESS design except the F110. My main gigging cab for over a year has been the F115. If I want to get nutty, I add an F112 on top for outdoors and bigger shows. Also have done a fair amount of touring with an F215 for a very loud band I'm in.

The F212 behaves more like the F215, but in a much smaller, lighter form factor
The picture with the bass is to give a sense of scale . Still need to straighten up that grill cloth!

My F212 weighs in at 57 lbs. The two woofer enclosures tend to have a more 'enveloping' sound than the single woofer cabs. The F115 (single woofer) arguably has a bit more absolute hifi clarity. By contrast, the F212 has a 'bigger' sound at the same volume. Nothing drastic, understand . All the F series cabs come from a similar place , tonally.

When I a/b the F212 with an F115/F112 stack they are very close in performance.

On my loud upright gigs, I keep a 31 band graphic eq in the fx loop of my Michael Pope pre, in case I need to tame some weird room stuff. I've been pleased that at several gigs, even loud ones, I've been able to bypass the graphic altogether and when I do use the graphic , it's just to cut a couple frequencies in the room. For electric bass I never use additional outboard eq. My Reiner 6SL7 pre and the F212 sounds warm, articulate and massive

The F212 strays slightly from the rest of the F series cabs, but in a very good way. Those inclined to say Greenboy cabs are a bit too mid forward would be less likely to say so about the F212.

I'm over the moon about this cab. On future tours where I always took the F215 or the F 115/F112 stack, the F 212 will be going out instead.

On one of my country doubling gigs, I use my Blast Cult upright, Dingwall Super J/P4 into my MPP2. It's just so convenient to have a single space two channel pre of such high quality, though for electric gigs, I still prefer my Reiner 6SL7 tube pre. I still keep it clean, but big clean toob power makes me happy

I was just about to pull the switch on a fEARful 1212/6/1 when the F212 entered the scene. I am attracted by the smaller size, and presumbably lighter weight, of the F212 but I wonder what differences I would hear between the fEARful and fEARless cabs.

The cab size & tuning gives the fEarful more output at the lower registers & the Fearless a bit tighter, punchier for the frequencies up to the woofer / midrange X-over region.

Most of the original fEarfuls used an 18Sound midrange driver that has a bit more output than the one used in the Fearless F212 which has a Faital driver (or so I was told by one of the builders) that is considered by many to be a bit smoother & more musical than the 18Sound.

Not sure which midrange your fEarful cab has.

The experts can issue any corrections to my statements, which are IIRC as I use to follow most of the Greenboy fEarful threads, but not so much in the last several months.

Agreed, that's a pretty good description

The F212 does stray a tiny bit from the other FEARLESS cabs...nothing drastic, but the mid range sounds a bit more solid in the 600hz-1k region and is a bit smoother in the 2k-4K region. Again, nothing extreme, but I like the difference quite a bit. Not surprisingly I suppose, but it's performance falls between the F115-F215, sounding more like the F215 (two woofers, beefier lows, etc)

I've recently decided to make the commitment to start saving for a greenboy. I've been in contact with David and I'm starting to think the F212 is the one for me. I've been asking questions and taking notes and the F212 really seems like the ideal choice for me. This is going to be a long time coming, but I'm def pumped. This cab looks beautiful and I bet it sounds even better. Does anyone use this cab with a GK 1001rb or a Mesa M9 by chance?

I have an M9 that I sometimes use with this rig...you want super thick with some zing on top, you're golden

Thanks dude. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. Plus some punch in there. But I'm assuming with the two amps I named that punch will be there no matter what.

Yep! The F212 will put out what you put in. If you want punch, you picked the right amps !

I'm set on cabs but if I were to order a Greenboy cab it would definitely be the F212. It's got lots of power at a very reasonable size and weight, easy to move, great sounding Faital 5" mid and those twin 3012LF with that tuning would hit the sweet spot in terms of punch, solid low end, and midrange presence (ideal Qts). Anything bigger and heavier is more of a chore to move but this 4 ohm impedance is optimum for bass amps and it can handle 1000 watts AES if needed. Not much more you could ask for in a bass cab. Excellent design!

I'm in a new project where I am required to detune my 5 string half step and my CN212 falls away on response below E more than I would like under these circumstances. If I wanted the same level of punch as I already enjoy with the CN212 but needed a flatter respone down to the low 30's, am I looking at a Fearful or a Fearless 212?

Either would serve you well...The F212 is the best single cab solution I've ever heard, and when you consider the size and weight it's a no brainer...that tuning would be no sweat for this cab

So a friend of mine from TB offered up his 15/6/1 to me for a good price. I'm going to get it. If I like it that much I'm going to grab an F212 later down the road. Anyone here rockin the 15/6/1??
