I've had my player P for almost six months now, and I still love it. Sounds killer, looks killer, plays killer. My only complaint is that, as some others have reported, the saddle under the G string is prone to falling.
New bass: Fender Player Jazz, Buttercream with a black pickguard! Very good instrument, no complaints at all so far.
Thank you very much! What you didn't like about the stock bridge? I'm thinking of buying the hi-mass bridge in the future, but I haven't decide yet.Great decision. Did the same with the pickguard on my Player Jazz, and added a hi-mass bridge that I bought a few years back to go on a Squier Jaguar (since sold .. kept the bridge).View attachment 3600923

oh wow this is the first I'm hearing of it. Has this been true on the jazz version as well and how does it fail?
Mine is relatively new but a bridge replacement is easy enough.
I bought a Player P and had to return it due to a faulty grinding A string tuner. It’s a shame because they sound and feel great.I've got the same problem but on the E-string. I've also got a tuner that had too much play and a "grinding" feel from day one and more or less failed within a short period of use. I'm not impressed with the hardware. Apart from that I think the Players are really nice instruments. And yes, like others have said, the pickup is really good. There are other P-bass pickups that I slightly prefer but they're more expensive and to be honest it's mostly a matter of voicing/personal preference.
If Fender hadn't gone for cheap hardware they would have a real winner here IMO. As it is I'm just giving it "ok for the money" because adding the cost of new hardware puts it into an different price range altogether.

Looks great! Were the tuners a perfect fit?Got the final piece of the puzzle yesterday - Hipshot HB7 tuners.
I went with the lollipop tuners and turned my Player into a Lollipop bass. I dig it.

The upgrades/changes are now done. The list of changes is:
- Mint green pickguard
- EMG GZR pickup (& wiring)
- Fender Pure Vintage 70s bridge
- Hipshot HB7 Lollipop tuners
- Fender Classic Series Tweed case
Guess there's nothing left to do but to play it now![]()

I hope so. I’m not giving it a third chance.my white player fretless jazz is not like this. luthier set up and filed some neck edges but the markings are smooth and plays very well. I would suspect switch out would be to your liking.
How much better are these tuners compared with the original ones?Got the final piece of the puzzle yesterday - Hipshot HB7 tuners.
