Fender 2018 MIM Player Series

Nice Bass! Not knocking it but what did you gain with swapping vintage MIM with vintage American bridge? Just curious as they are not that much different
Here is a better pic :)

That is gordeous. I put a Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pounder in mine and because they are higher output I lowered them to slightly peaking out the pickguard. VERY nice tone! I don't particularly like the J bass version SJB-3 but this on P is awesome!!!!
I got my Player P in 2018 within first two months they were released and no problems but mine has a Maple neck and fretboard. When I got it is was on a sale for $550 at GC because of the Tide Pool Blue body I guess but the neck was so awesome and no dead spots anywhere I could detect so I bought it. My wife bought me a New Fender Artic White body for my birthday a week ago and I switched over 2 nights ago and love it.

I just bought one of these recently. Holy cow was I impressed. When I bought my first Fender in 96, you couldn't have paid me to buy a MIM bass. I love this thing, but there is one complaint. Does anyone else find the tuners lacking? Feel like I need to tune this thing every time I play it. Is it me, or is that a normal complaint for these? I'm not really a mod guy, but thinking about changing these out. Driving me nuts.

I bought a Capri Orange Player series Jazz Bass recently. I previously had a turn-of-the-millenium MIM Jazz Bass that I unfortunately had to sell years back.

I put '74 Vintage pickups in and Obsidian Pro-Wire kit, and threaded bridge saddles. Pretty pleased with how it sounds. I would have bought an American Jazz Bass if Fender offered it in left handed...

Really wish Fender gave a crap about left handed players, I would give them more money... my American Professional Jazzmaster is pretty much perfect as it came from the factory.

Those Hipshot HB7's might be the next thing I pick up.

The tuners on my Player Jazz are stable enough - I don’t notice a huge difference in tuning stability between my American Std P-bass and my MIM Fenders. But then again I always make it a point to tune all my basses before playing them, as there are plenty of things that can make a bass go slightly out of tune. Usually, the adjustments are minimal anyway.

I dropped PV 63 straight into mine (which I think honestly are a bit better than the 62s, I did quite a bit of reading and listening to come to that conclusion) with no issues but I recommend obviously coming to your own conclusion. I also swapped out the tuners. It went from a really good bass to a pretty great bass.

Nice. Definitely leaning towards the PV '63.

They do make a lefty American J and P Basses. The AmPro & AmPro2 lines. They have been slowly improving since about ‘17.

I have also have a Players Jazz but in the Sonic Red that the Capri Orange replaced. I like the tone of the stock pups with the flats that I put on it but find them very low output compared to both of my P basses.

How do you like your vintage ‘74’s compared to the stockers?

Congrats on the Jazzmaster. Those are pretty sweet.

This came up a while ago, but my Player P came stock with 500k pots. A weird contradiction to the spec sheet, but that's what I discovered when I changed the pickguard.

I suspect/believe that FMIC use/move to A500K pot on PlayerPbass without notice because stock pup sound lifeless and dull on earlier batch which using 250K pot.
On my both previous Player P , stock pup sound can't get close to cheaper Squier CV60P .

I just guess ...

I purchased my Player P new in September.
250 K pots in mine. Finished mods this morning. Hipshot HB7 tuners, Hipshot bridge, EMG Geezer pickups, brown pearl pickguard. The PG has the truss rod adjustment notch, but frankly that doesn't bother me. I can always switch back to Tort or the original if it does.
