I usually don't go down the string experimentation rabbit hole, but after fiddling with different string sets on my Kingman II, I think I may want to go back to original factory strings or equivalent. Again, it is a result of gigging in various venues, not all of which allow great sound on stage.

The round wounds on my guitar scale length (GSL 27.5") Ibanez are original and I think they are D’Addario XTB3790GS round wound strings. Punchy as hell and I can always hear myself on stage without cranking the volume. If they made those same strings in a 30" scale that would reach up to the top tuner on that lonnnng headstock I would get those, but I don't think they do.

Recommendations for some "punchy" round wounds for the 30" K II? (And what factory strings did it come with?)

I think it came with Fender phosphor bronze. Too squeaky for me.

I use D'addario tapewounds on mine, because I like flats, but wanted less tension. I would NOT call them punchy. They have a nice woody tone.

Thanks. I had tapes on it for a while but they did not cut through enough for my situation.

I'd suggest GHS Phosphor Bronze Pressure Wounds.
Not as squeaky as other Phosphor Bronze strings, but definitely louder* IMHO. @wintremute got me into them. @mikeoso doesn't like them and prefers his Rotosound Swing Bass 88 strings [Edit] TRUBASS 88 which are tapes. I respect both of these guys opinions as they both gig, albeit different types of venues.

Won't the 37.25" wind be a bit much for a Kingman 2?

True...but note, the ones I use are the TRUBASS 88s.
