And my P Special sold!

My stepdaughter still has my old 32" Aerodyne Jazz that she loves (she recently put Neon's on it... I think she's started down the G.A.S. path, but I haven't turned her on to TB much, yet). I've enjoyed the Aerodyne discussions over the years, and might dive back in to see how everyone's doing, but I've gone in other directions since 2020.

To that end, I'm going to retire from 3 years of giving out club numbers. Most folks haven't actually asked for one in a while.

Sweet setup.

How's that MXR bass chorus pedal? I tend to use Boss pedals but I hear really good things about MXR.

Yours definitely hasn't faded.


Mine has faded to a darker Navy blue and no matter how much I polish it, I can't get it back to its bright original shade

Some great looking Aerodynes here!

A couple months ago I went it GC to get some strings and saw a used Aerodyne on the wall. Wasn’t looking for a bass but decided to try it out. I could not put the thing down, not only the best neck I’ve ever played but it sounded phenomenal. Anyway, instead of strings I bought the Aerodyne and I love it!

Here’s my question for fellow owners: the stock pickups sound good to me, but the E string is very, very loud on the split pickup. I have the pickup angled pretty far toward the body to get it away from the E but even then I have to turn down the bass on my amp to even things out. Is this common issue?

My other observation/question is that acoustically the body is very thumpy and resonant. Unplugged it almost sounds like a double bass. This is not something I’ve experienced with other basses, is it an Aerodyne thing?

The Aerodyne is very resonant and woody/thumpy for sure which is a reason I love it so.
Mine came to me with EMG HZ p’ups so can’t comment on the stocks

As for the pickups, it's been quite some time since I noodled around on my Aerodyne (mine's been in storage for many months), but I don't recall the E-string having way more output than the rest. I can't help but wonder if the curvier fretboard radius has your E-string dropping that much closer to the pickup. Have you tried raising the bridge saddle as well?

I’ve thought about raising the saddle but one of the things I love so much about this bass is the super low action I can get. But that’s with all the strings, I don’t just have the E low, haha! I guess it’s just a quirk of this particular bass to have a lot of low output.
