I got my Aerodyne used and the bridge was already replaced. I imagine that it wasn't done by a professional nor do I believe it was needed. I had to redo the grounding myself. It is my main bass, but I don't believe I'd be worse off with the original bridge.

Just thought I'd post this because it's different. I've seen the Aerodyne in black, CAR, gun metal, sunburst and blue, but never gold. Didn't know this was a production color.

I guess I’m surprised that some have not realized that there is a recess where the bridge is mounted. With the carved top on the jazz, unless this is something that has changed over the years, having a recess is the only way to have a level surface for the bridge to mount to.

In any case, the hipshot Vintage bridge appears to fit in the recess based on the measurements I received from a hipshot rep.

Not all Aerodynes have a recessed bridge pocket. Mine is a 2015 black export model and there is no recess. I've had a couple different bridges on there, they always sat flat, and the ground wire was always held securely and made good contact. I put the stock bridge back on because it sounds best to my ears. I know there are models that have a bridge recess, but if you were ordering one today from GC or MusiciansFriend it likely would not have a bridge recess.

I just bought my Fender Aerodyne a week ago Saturday. I love it. It replaced a free Squier Indonesian P-bass, which was fine, but I am glad I did an upgrade. There aren't a lot of PJ basses with Jazz necks, and I considered upgrading the Squier.
The key things are the light weight ( I am old), and the tight radius neck. I am a guitar player mostly, so the Jazz neck is much more comfortable. It's nice having the range of tones that the extra pickup brings. No need to post a pic I hope, it looks just like any new Aerodyne. I put chromes on it first thing, but may go through a string test phase, looking at Elixer nickels.

I ordered my fourth Aerodyne jazz last week. Sadly I have to wait until the end of February through mid March for it to arrive. Is it possible to get a number before hand? Here is a picture of my last aero and my geddy lee

I don't think the numbers are being assigned anymore. I've been waiting for a number for a few pages now, and haven't seen anyone else get a number

Does anyone have any experience fitting EMG Geezer Butler pickups into a PJ Aerodyne?

I am looking at the possibility of doing this, however I am a complete novice when it comes to guitar electronics. I am even worried that I will screw up the solderless install system these pickups offer!

I have had a quick look online and even the install guide you get with the pickups doesn't look straight forward to me.

I am just worried I will screw something up.

Can anyone offer any advice on this?

In the upper right corner of this page, there's a Search function. Type in "Geezer", then click "Search this thread only". You should get eight or so posts, not counting your own.

If you're going to disconnect the electronics yourself, and you're using cutters instead of a soldering gun, clip the wires at the potentiometers, not at the pickups.

Yup. Because you'll find that the Geezer's are good, but the stock MIJ pickups *slay*.

My aerodyne came in yesterday. Was too busy playing to post pictures. It’s going to remain stock as this bass just kills. Haven’t found a thing I didn’t like yet. Pups are silent, no neck dive and don’t lose volume when blending the pups.
