dUg Pinnick got me started on Hi-Beams about 4 years ago. He said they sound like Rotos but last So, so, so much longer. I wish I'd have known 30 years ago. I have a few sets of Black Beauties and Neons on some of my Basses also. I Love DR's, Sound amazing and last much longer than anything I've used over the years.

Yeah, it looks like P bass neck dimensions, now that you mention it. I wonder if there are any other differences to the J bass types, particularly pickups and general sound?
I own one of those! The neck is still Aerodyne jazz dimensions--1.5" nut. I absolutely love mine - I didn't find the pups significantly powerful or unique, so I dropped in a set of EMG-HZ p/j's and it really kicks it. I had no experience with the HZ set before, but am a fan of their GZR pups, so gave the HZ a shot. So can't comment more on the stock pups, but I can get a great P sound and/or a strong midrange jazz sound out of it now. With both pups on, it's simply FULL.

A few weeks ago I bought a black MiJ from a friend, who bought a new Precision Deluxe MiM. It needed a lot of care and love so I took it apart, cleaned it, gave it a setup, changed the pups for cream DiMarzios, Richter passive electronics, dome knobs from allparts and put Bassculture Black Nylon Strings on it. Here we have a motown killer bass...

I keep coming across new colors of Aerodyne. I wish they made some of them in the US at the moment. Here's one I've never seen before.

Second, did you notice the angled neck plate? My 34" Aero P has the angled neck plate, but I'm not aware of any 34" Aero J's that have it. My medium scale Aero J has the angled neck plate... I'm wondering if that's a medium scale, and the owner just doesn't realize it? I sent them a message to ask.
