Fender American Design Experience

Are you buying these to play or to sell?

I have never been concerned with resale value when buying a bass. I either want it or I don't. If I sell it and lose a few hundred bucks, life goes on. Basses aren't really investment items with a few rare exceptions. It's better to have love and lost...

Anyway, nice to see some of these basses showing up. They look like they have great resale value!

The transparent blonde P is where I'm tempted...

Rock on...

I agree, unfortunately I have had many many fine instruments pass thru my hands only to be sold because of poor money management.:(

Potential resale of an instrument should be considered as part of its overall value whether you intend to keep it forever or not. It's part of what you're paying for.

You might change your mind about the bass someday... maybe take a different musical direction... or maybe you'll actually have to sell it for some reason. It's impossible to predict.

Either way, it's smarter to take it into consideration before making a purchase than it is to completely ignore it.

I haven't done the analysis, but I would say this thread is 22% discussion about the ADE basses, 24% about options that don't exist and the complaints that go with that, 12% about resale value and 42% haters trying to flame Fender supporters into a battle. Kinda sucks. I never understand why people who don't like fenders are so hell bent on telling people who do like them why they are wrong. Please go start another thread called "fenders suck and the ADE is dumb." Then, those of us who want to actually discuss the ADE don't have to sift through the crap to get to the info we want to share/read/discuss

Fletz, there are already tons of "Fender Sucks" threads on this site, so the "ADE is dumb" bit would be implied therein. ;)

8.55 lbs!

I'm still at work, so I haven't been able to plug it in yet, but... other than a few minor details, this bass is up to par with my $4500 Custom Shop bass.

The alder they used for the body is RIDICULOUS... it shimmers in the light. I don't think I've seen anything like it.

I hate factory setups, so I'm really excited to get home and set this beauty up and play it.

DAMN!!!

Well, that is just a great looking P Bass! Congratulations! If nothing else, the ADE seems to be a home run for the southpaws!!!

Almost forgot...

Here's what the personalized neckplates look like.

It's a little cheesier looking than I expected, but whatever I guess... it's just kind of neat to be able to put your own personalized stamp on the bass to make it even more of your own.

Wish I'd thought of a date or something like that (birthday?). Everything I came up with I wasn't sure if I'd dig looking at in a year or ten. No wonder I don't have any tattoos!

:D

Yeah, the P-Bass has my birthday... and the Jazz I ordered says, "The Funk Wrench" on the neckplate... I couldn't help myself.

Mine will say "Designed by Lily Grace 2014" as my little 4 1/2 year old daughter picked the color and pg (and selected the neck style after I decided jazz width).
