Fender American Professional Series

I truly do want to get excited over Fender releasing a new line, but I just can't. At the end of the day, this line is just a marketing update. :(
As well as a significant price increase. If I'm not mistaken, the AS Precisions had a $1299 street price, while these are $1499. Curiously, the Pro Jazz is the same price, whereas the AS Jazz had been $50 or $100 more than the Ps.

New colors
A few trivial - and likely unimportant - feature changes

I'd rather they just called them "American Standards" and be done with it ... but the VP of Marketing does NOT get his bonus by sticking with what has worked.

People buy new Fenders? :roflmao:

Right?

The website price was circa $1399 and was at that price for a number of years; the 7% increase is probably inline with inflation given the time fame of movements.

It seems that Fender addresses everything but the one feature that bugs me the most about their basses-terrible neck dive. I have yet to play a recent Fender that balances like a G&L, Lakland, ESP, Bacchus, Music Man, etc. When the new American Standards came out I went to Guitar Center and tried a bunch out. They all had neck dive, even with a strap! Sorry to rant but it bugs me that a $1200 bass has balancing issues.

They sound good, but it would have been nice to hear them with the treble control on full treble. I know they aren't active, but you should be able to get more treble especially out of the Jazz.

I just watched the Jazz demo by Nik West and thought the same thing. She had the "treble" [SIC] turned down to show the growl but never played with the tone open. I would like to hear the pickups in their full glory. Might have to go and check 'em out and see for myself.

Neck dive? How are you shaped to get neck dive out of an American Standard?

My 5 string Jazz bass does not have any dive neck issue. My G&L 2000 and 2500 did have dive issues by the way

Looks really cool to me. I'd be into one of the new American Pro P Basses. I like what Sean has to say about the taller frets, and I bet that pickup sounds cool in person. I love the Antique Olive finish. The '63 neck profile is probably my favorite Fender P neck shape of all time.

OH my gosh ...........OLIVE DRAB............MUST RUSH OUT AND

.............................................PUKE.............LOL

I've only bought one brand new Fender since the 70's and I don't play it. OTOH I play several others I bought used most of which I modded. I own 10 Fender basses.

Yeah, you're a bit tired of OD too, eh?
