Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass

I think the only bass I can think of with more going on is one of the old B.C. Rich Mockingbirds! It is a little over the top, but putting aside the active options, the series/parallel switch can get you to some interesting places. It's nice to have the options even if I mainly just use the P pickup.I had an MIA Jag. Beautiful bass, but I couldn't deal with all the knobs and switches. The only reason I have a Jaguar is that I have always wanted one. Ever since I saw all of the surf bands of the 60's use them. Now that I am old and able I bought one and put a fretless neck on it...just to have one. Imagine my surprise when it sounded pretty darn good! As with most of my basses, I dial in a sound I like and leave it. This is true of the Jaguar as well.
ok now am officially on the hunt - opinions on a reasonable price for one of these nowadays? Vintage Guitar book doesn't list them. I see several of the Japanese version out there for around $1K but not much reference for the American Standard.
I paid $675 for a MIJ body, which is the most I have ever paid for a body but I had been looking for a long time.
Then mounted a $500 Warmoth maple neck on it. It's fabulous.
I saw one go up on eBay in July for $1600 and it sold as I was pressing submit offer. I'd say $1500-2000 is probably fair depending on condition.
If you live in Southern California, there's one for sale locally on Offer Up. It's been on there for a while now.

Are the Fender Player Jaguar s acceptable? I like the body shape and don't care for all the controls on the MIJ's. I wish they made a White, Natural, or Sunburst Player. The colors I want they don't make. The Orange looks ok. I considered a Squire SB body and putting a Player Jazz neck on it.

They made a White US Jag? If so I definitely want one too.
I've seen sunburst and white the most. I think the Candy Apple Red option is particularly rare from what I read.
I think I'm out on one right now but may revisit in the future.
For the U.S. Jaguar they made black, white, red and sunburst. I've got a black one. For the Japanese models it was black, white, sunburst and extremely red with matching headstock, as well as blue at one point.
I just got this one off reverb. I'm not crazy about the chips in the arm contour. The guy I got it from said the guy he got it from dropped a tool box on it while moving, but it looks to me like he tried to relic it. It sounds killer though.

I remember that posting! Even with that damage/relic situation, that's a nice bass, and the white ones seem usually rare.
I'm thinking of relicing it on the arm contour just so it's smoothed out and doesn't look like it's been stabbed a bunch. Other than that, I'm very happy with this one. I've wanted one of these for years and the dude was within driving distance from me.
