It had a noise problem, but all I had to do was put a thin strip of shielding tape connecting the cavities together and it went away. All the cavities have shielding paint in them, they just aren’t connected.

Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass

I actually like the CIJ headstock decals better than the MIA version, but I like the pickups and hardware better in the MIA. The noise issues in the CIJ are pretty easily fixed as stated above.
I like them both. The cij can better imitate a Jazz bass. I think they are going for about 1200 these days, which is pretty expensive. They were a good investment. I regret selling mine.
I recently saw a Jag for sale that had an MIA body, hardware and electronics with a warmoth neck.
They wanted $2500.
Glad to have the one MIA I own. I imagine I'll be into my next one (MIA) for around $2K if I can find one relatively soon.

For some odd reason, my CIJ is not noisy at all. The big bonus of the CIJ is the neck. It's Geddy Lee thin.
I've owned both Japanese and American Jaguars. I didn't have any issues with noise with the Japanese model on the noise front beyond what one would always face with single coils. With the American Jaguar, the P pickup is of course very quiet, and the J is, at least for me, almost impossible to use because of electrical hum. I really wish it had a noiseless J pickup because I always play with some level of dirt. Run with both pickups open or just the J, the noise is hard to deal with. I'd actually like to pop a GZR P-J set in my American Jaguar but the wiring inside the bass looks like something from a spaceship, no way I can do that myself.
I'm with you there, love the black 70s style Fender logo, and to keep it consistent with the guitar the Japanese font makes more sense. Not a big fan of the spaghetti logo and writing JAGUAR BASS in dignified little letters, although I know there's long precent in Fender land for doing that.
I have the white one, its such a great instrument. It can make so many sounds!

I’m a lifelong jazz bass fanatic, but nothing looks cooler than a jag. That burst one is sharp sir.
A few summers ago I got a hot rod red MIJ model that I love and then saw a mistic red American Standard Jag bass on FB marketplace marked down to $1300 from $1400. I waited. It dropped to $1200 and then $1100 and when It hit $1000 I drove from Madison, WI to St. Louis. Best purchase I made in a long time and I've yet to see another one for sale anywhere...in any color.

Now I have a Japanese and American Standard. Comparing the 2 I noticed that I cracked the headstock by installing a drop-D turner on the Japanese. :-( At the time I wasn't too concerned with the instrument, as I bought it off a guy from Craigslist for $300. I met him on the street and he handed it to me without a strap or case or anything. I had no idea how really great this instrument would be, and drilling new holes in the headstock didn't seem like a big deal. No mods on my American!

Correction: I will get an antique perloid pick guard for the American to match the neck inlays. what's the best place for custom pick guards these days? I'd prefer not using that company that always comes up on reverb and eBay as I've been searching for this jag for the last few months! They have hundreds of postings for every possible color pick guard for every instrument!
I will say that I was never fond of red, but this mystic red is darker and metallic, and I'm digging it. I'm also not the one looking at the bass when I'm playing it. As a visual from the audience, I think the mystic red is much nicer than my usual black.
