Fender AVRI discontinued?!

Chicago Music Exchange just posted on Instagram that they are discounting all American Vintage Reissues...due to them being discontinued. Apparently fender hasn’t made a public announcement yet. Any thoughts or speculation?

Is this like them discontinuing the American Standards, only to replace it with nearly the same thing with a different name? Would be kind dumb in my opinion to get rid of the AVRI/Pure Vintage, or whatever you want to call them. Seems like it hits a very specific demographic that there actually is a market for, for the guys/gals who with they had a vintage bass of something that's current production but still has vintage specs, but can't afford one or doesn't want o deal with maintaining one, and don't want to play an American Standard/Pro, Elite, etc.

They’ll give it a new name and increase the price

(Might wait a year or so to build up demand first)

Who knows, if they increase the prices enough it may just make sense to buy a real vintage instrument, of just buy a used AVRI. Would make no sense to buy anything new from them. The older American Standards are great instruments and can be had for great prices used compared to what they're asking for the new American Pro's, even after the usual 15% off coupons that are always floating around. I feel like they're going to get greedy and mess up a really good thing they have going. You'd think they would have watched and learn when Gibson tried to really jack up their prices a few years ago and had a disastrous year with electric guitar sales.

I recently went on a Dangerfield bender on YouTube and it stuck!

I watched some Dangerfield standup lately too, as part of my survey of the old school cats. Just enjoyed some Red Foxx, as well, but it seems his every album is a variation on the same set of routines.

Dana Gould is a Simpsons writer who does standup and has a great set online where he has that same classic brow-mopping, "I'm-joking-for-my-life-here" vibe as Rodney.

Yep, that's the beauty of Rodney. He knew his schtick and routine and stuck with that formula. It worked for him.

I love my AVRI Tele as much as I loved Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack

My 2012 AVRI '57 P BASS is my #1. I like it so much, I featured it on the surface of our CD.
