you used to be able to buy non vintage american fenders for around 700 bucks at this old mom and pop place by me, because they didn't consider them vintage or collectable just necessary equipment for being in a band
but of course i didn't buy one, because i simply had to have a new highway one bass, because of all the badass bridge, nitro finish, and retro logo buzz
anyway, when it came time to get a bass with a more stable neck i ended up trying the avri 63 p bass and the 60th anniversary 51 inspired p bass, both were incredible sounding, but i ended up getting a great deal on a
90s LB100 and the rest is history, fenders are very nice, but i can't see me paying more than i paid for my first car on a bass and i'm not sure that in a band mix there's a whole hell of a lot of difference in the tone of
most mid level and above split coil p basses that you can't mitigate with string choice, foam chunks, and good eq
