Fender AVRI discontinued?!

... I wonder if they'll keep the Vxxxxxx serial numbers... (that was meaning Vintage, so probably not).

By the late-'90s, Fender reshuffled the US Vintage Re-Issue series, changing the name to American Vintage.
About the same here, 20 years later.

The AVRI (Corona) name was U.S. Vintage Reissue series up to 1998, when they flipped the name to American Vintage Reissue, with a few other changes.

I'd play the snot out of that LPB P bass.

I don't think so. Pretty sure the AVRIs are just nitro (though possibly with an elasticizer added to make them less prone to checking).

I'm also not at all sure the Anderton's guys are right about the poly base on the American Originals. I haven't heard that from any other source, and it directly contradicts Fender's marketing spiel about the thin nitro finish letting the wood breathe.

Depends on the year, but some older ones, for sure the Telecasters and Strats were nitro over poly with a nitro neck.

Perhaps a poly sealer on the wood with Nitro over top.
