Fender AVRI discontinued?!

Is this confirmed, next AVRI basses will be 59 and 64 P?

Any idea what the specs would be?

What about the jazz, they’re already up to 64. Go back to 61 and start over?

The custom shop has likewise done '59 Precisions and they look like the bass below.

Transition neck to rosewood, but the rest like a '57. Not sure if there is hootenanny button on the back of the '59, but I think not.
None on the CS '59 reissues, anyway.

I've thought of doing that to my '62 as well to get out of the of the tort realm. I like instruments with as little plastic as possible.

Now I am wondering if I should get out of the bass altogether after hearing sunburst described as "grandpaburst" on TB this year. Gulp!

In my avri 63 NBD thread someone referred to it as dadburst

I was like so triggered

Incidentally, one of my few worthwhile threads was one i started wherein I asked TB about the vintage thumbrests (as featured on these many AVRIs).

As players and collectors we like them, but to the general public the rest is often perceived as a training aid. And even among TB bassists, the perception of them was quite divided, with many finding them pompous our faux.

Why go the extra distance to send a subtle signal that might well be misinterpreted?

This is the best incarnation of a P bass IMO

I left mine on because I think it looks cool. I don’t use it at all.

I always thought they were cool, too. It is just worth noting that over half the audience does not, on average.
But yeah, one of those little "authenticators" I always checked for first off.

From Fender France today:

Pretty conservative choices, and so much for my prediction of a rosewood fingerboard and transition '59.

But I guess they will keep that one in the CS domain and get a $1,000 premium for reaching in a different bucket o' parts...

My passive ones...
Amp. is a Line 6 guitar amp. I use at home.
Ash and maple one is a PB70 with EMG GZR..
Alder and rosewood one is an Am. Pro. body with an Am. Std. jazz bass neck.
PB70 has got a B neck, 40mm versus 38mm.. good setup but some frets are buzzing ... no issues on the MIA

By god, a VHS man!

Sharp! Did you drill new holes for the pickguard? As far as I can tell, the gold anodized pickguards are 10 holed and the tort ones are 13 holed.

Nope, didn't redrill. The 10 hole lacks a few that the later version does, and the only hole that doesn't line up is in between the two knobs, I just left that screw out.

Are we sure this is the new line? Could be wrong but those are the exact same models we had.
