Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

My local store just got in a new Ampeg SVT Classic 300 watt head and a 610 cab and I was very excited to play through it. Boy, was it L O U D!!

But my 100T simply smoked it in every other category.

Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until you compare it to what you think is amazing.

I realize that opinions vary as much as hairlines, but for my money, the Fender Bassman 100T is the best, most versatile amp on the market.

Now if you're touring stadiums, it won't do - but for most of us gigging musicians who play regular gigs, it's the B O M B!!

That sums up my feeling too! Well said.

As you guys know, I just got the 100T and love it so far. Let me get your opinion. My "big" cab is an Epifani PS410, a cab I have been very happy with. However, I can't help but wonder if I should get the Bassman 410 to go with my 100T. At Bass Central, I played through the 610 and the sound was outstanding. As far as I can tell, advantages would be:

20# lighter! This is huge for me. I can't move the Epi by myself (neck injury)
The cab matches the head visually (looks cool) and is the same width.

Now, the question is tone. Am I spending the money to make an unnecessary change? Is this cab really voiced to match up perfectly that I'm missing out? I just can't decide if this is change I should make or not.

No one tell me to get the 610, too big!!!! If I get another cab, needs to be lighter than the PS410.

Sounds like it might indeed make sense for you. I personally have stuck with my Genz Benz Focus 210 and 115 because I think they sound great with the 100T and I like the height (42 inches or so for the stacked cabs). I do sometimes wish I had a matching cab.... would look so cool. But, like you, I ain't hauling a 610 (even though this one is uncommonly light for a 610).

Fender neo 610 is a great match with the 100T. Tone and weight are big pluses for it but the extra air that six tens move make the 100T considerably more versatile for those that are concerned about sometimes needing a little more power.

Not exactly sure what you were saying there, but the two channels of the 100T are totally discreet - they are not blendable, if that's what you were saying. The blend control on the active channel blends between clean and overdrive, not between the two channels

Was replying to post about the 100T's EQ being limited, or not changing much.
The ph app sometimes doesn't add the quote. :(

Do u have to be a supporting member to post in the classifieds? Thinking of selling my 100t 610neo to (and only to) help fund my wedding. I just got a cn212 and svt7 pro and will keep them because of size and weight. The townhouse is getting crowded. After the last purchase she said "that's money u could have used for the dj at our wedding!" . Of course it was after it was already delivered. I told her I was buying it! Women.... I love her tho. So yea that's my long story.

I've totally loved the 100T/410Neo combo. It's been more than enough for small/medium gigs with no FOH support, and has given more than enough stage volume for larger gigs with the bass going through FOH. But I have to admit I bought it, like I admitted a year ago when I did it, like a woman buying shoes to match her purse - strictly because it looked so great with the head. I didn't try one, never heard one, just bought it online sight-unseen. So it makes me very nervous to recommend it as I have no idea what else might match the head better, or just as well for less money. I don't know if it really is 'specially matched' to the new Bassman heads, or if it's just a generic Fender cab they've dolled up to match the series. I just know it's exactly the sound I had in my head that I wanted from a tube rig. Plus I absolutely love the weight of the thing, and the fact that it has casters so it makes a great truck for the 100T. But now with the price increases it's gone through it seems like an awfully expensive cab, which makes me even more nervous about recommending it. I would do it again for sure, and am still looking for an excuse to add a second one.

Remember the DJ only lasts 3 hours. The rig forever! Good luck and please stay married - through the thick and thin.

Happy birthday to my 100T! it was a year ago today that the big 'ol box arrived, followed by the 410 Neo two weeks later. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning, and a year and over 40 gigs later the thing still thrills me every time I plug into it.
