Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

I think it's a tribute to the amp that as soon as they come into a store they go out. And kudos to Fender for (presumably) keeping a lid on quality control and not rushing manufacture to keep up with demand. It is the same downunder, there is a waiting list for them to come into the country.

Put the head on my GK NEO 112 II's last night. Surprised how good they sounded together. ImageUploadedByTalkBass1370977165.010432.jpg

That's interesting Nolabass. I haven't been particularly impressed by my 100T with the GK neo115iii. Fine at low volumes but got too boomy for me at even a small gig. Might have been the room, I suppose. I am planning on getting the new Berg 115 since we can only get the Fender 610s and 810s downunder:crying: I just wish they would import the smaller Fender cabs as well.

I've found the head a little "dull" with my Epifani PS410, that cab sounds great w more modern heads imo. Live the GK 1001 w it, but the GK head w the GK cabs is a bit sterile to me. On top of the 2 GK's, the 100T had a little more of the tone I liked in the top end when I tried the head w the Fender 610. I am playing almost exclusively on the overdrive channel.

Still thinking about the 410, but the Berg NV115 is intriguing too!

I've been running my SB300 through a Markbass 410HF and it sounds really good. I'm thinking about getting a Greenboy Dually for it.

That's funny, I have been contemplating getting the 100t for my Dually ;)

Need to find a place to test drive them though. I would likely run the 100t with the OD channel super cranked. I think the SB would have too much volume with the Dually before I could get some power tube saturation.

I'm looking into getting a 100T, and am exploring cabinet options to pair it with. I want to go with a 410, but I'm debating between an Orange OBC 410, Ampeg 410HLF, and a Fender 410 NEO. Thoughts?

The 410HLF has huge bottom end by design. I owned one for over a year used it steadily with a Genz GBE1200 or a Shuttle 6.0. Held up well but is a bear to move. If you want huge bottom that Ampeg cab will deliver. I felt it lacking somewhat in being able to deliver a "hi-fi" type tone though. It had decent mids and highs but overall low end is where it shines. Used it one time with an old 100 watt. 70's Silver faced Showman (master volume era) and sounded pretty good with the blues group I played in.

Orange: 90lbs, no thinaks.
Ampeg: too dark for me and bottom weighted, personally. ymmv. 85lbs...
Fender: better more balanced tone, for me. 55lbs: cool.

Hard to argue with your assessment Chef! I had that Ampeg years ago and never loved it. The Orange looks great, but it is too heavy for me to try and risk liking it!!!

The Orange really sounds great, but yeah, it's a good bit heavier.

The Fender Bassman Neo 410 is a great cab, and it matches up really well with either of the new Bassman heads.

If you prefer a sealed tone and want a 4x10, check out the Reeves 4x10.

I will be getting the 100t soon and also am debating holding on to my Hartke hydrive 410 (sealed) cab. I know the Fender or Reeves just 'ooze' classic looks but I wonder if the silver on the hydrive along with removing the HUGE Hartke badge might due the trick.

I would really like the Fender matching 6-10 but HUGE difference in $$..

Any thoughts on the hydrive / 100t matchup??

Thanks, Marc

I honestly can't imagine that any Hydrive cab wouldn't sound good with the 100t. I ran 2 of the 15 Hydrive off my PF500 when I owned one and was impressed with the big sound from those.

They are pro quality build and have enough paper in the cone for old school thump if you want it. Not sure about pulling the logo's off though. Mine were stuck on with a massive amount of spooge and I'm not sure you can get it off very easily without leaving a nasty looking mess on the metal grilles.

The bassman 410 neo matches up so well with the 100T. I've been going back and forth between it and my Berg. HT112er's. With all other heads I've preferred the Bergs. but with the 100T (even though I have a hard time admitting to myself) the 410 is growing on me and getting the call more often. So easy to schlep is a huge + too.
