Fender CS LOTTO Telecaster Bass

could get quite a few wicked basses with that money. 70's fender + wal+ mm stringray + warmouth custom telebass and still prolly have money left over.

Exactly! I could buy a very nice MIA bass of some sort (which would probably sound just as good), by a really nice amp, and a used car to transport them in!

I'm kind of digging this. I bet I could put something like this together for less than $600.

I was thinking the same think. Ken doesn't seem to have a fretted maple neck with block inlays available right now. He's got a fretless, but I need the frets.

And he's got a short scale, rosewood neck with blocks. Marry that to the short scale LBP SX body and you're half way there. (If you want a shorty with rosewood).

I really am digging the maple board with either lp blue or a burgundy red. I like the trans blue too. That particular finish came off a pic of a Jay Turser body.

It would be easy. Get an SX P and go from there. The Tele Deluxe p/g would cover all the routing. Couple of cans of ReRanch solid color; jig saw the headstock to a Tele shape(repaint it to match the body); the big $$ expense would be the electronics.

I think a decent one could be had for under $400 if you don't swap the bridge and tuners.

I don't mind unassembled, but I do mind unfinished. Warmoth charges $185 for painting the body and $75 (minimum) to finish the neck. Add in pups and you're looking at a $900 bass. Not bad (especially compared to $6000) but still more than I want to pay for a parts bass.

Heck, you can buy a whole SX for cheaper than most necks out there. Plus you'd have the rest of the bass to sell off.

LOTTO is an Italian sporting goods (soccer/football shoes, jerseys) manufacturer. Oddly, I can't find a website for them.

Can't say if that's "the" LOTTO, but it's the only one I know of. Odd co-branding for a bass.

That's more like what I was thinking, but I've never painted a guitar before. Read a couple of tutorials and it sounds like A LOT of work.

I think I'd rather buy a blue body I like and go from there.

It's pretty easy to do with Reranch products. They sell nitro lacquer based paint in a spray can. You can also get sandpaper, primer and clear coat. They have easy instructions to follow. It's like riding a bike.

The first basses coming out of Lakland were a cross between a Fender Jazz and a Musicman Sting Ray.

I have an early Lakland and the only thing it has in common with either of those basses is the shape of the pickup routings and a bolt-on neck.
