I'd love to join the club if you guys will have me...
Here are my 2:
On the left, a Fender CS '62 Precision in Black with Heavy Relic and Thomastik Jazz Flats, and on the right a Fender CS '59 Precision in aged Daphne Blue with Journeyman Relic body, Heavy Relic neck, and the same Fender roundwounds that came from the shop.
They each have distinct personalities and I love them both.

Phillip, I'd be interested to hear an assessment of tonal differences between your two precisions.
I have a CS white/blonde '59 journeyman P {ash body} and frankly, it's difficult for me to imagine a better sounding P bass. I also have my eye on a CS black '59 journeyman which has a '62 pickup in it and I was thinking that if it brought something different to the table, I might buy it.
I had a '62 reissue a while back and it sounded much different to my '59.

I mean fair enough, Fenders are always gonna be a good investment. Just as long as you know you're paying mostly for the name on the headstock, looks and paint.

Well, that is quite an interesting bass for sure. Not one I'd be interested in. Remember anyone can charge what they want for an instrument. If there's a buyer who feels it's worth 9K, then that's what it's worth to them. If it repulses you so much, then don't buy it, don't look at it. Problem solved.
As for your other comments, you should look up the rules about trolling threads.
Since the bass was commissioned for the remodeling of the Hollywood Guitar Center (flagship store), I suspect they never expected to sell it, but to have it as a customer draw. Not something I would buy.
I'm not trying to troll. Sure, anyone can buy whatever they want. Just absolutely don't comprehend why someone would spend 7.5 grand for a paint job on their bass when they could get a Fodera or Alembic or something genuinely special.
I live in Phoenix and have had some contact with Fender, and they seem like a super shady and douchy bunch of people from what I've seen and heard. To be fair, be suspect of anyone that chooses to base themselves in Phoenix, business or otherwise. I'm not here by choice, and plan to leave ASAP.
As far as not looking at it, well, another shady company Google makes sure I don't have that option. Just keep seeing it pop up as a suggested ad everywhere.
