Fender Custom Shop Club

So I got the opportunity today to play an actual 1965 Fender Precision and loved every minute of it. Except for maybe the 10 grand price tag.

The most surreal part of it was that I kept looking at the back of the neck and the body finish because the wear looked - and felt - soooo similar to both of my Custom Shop P basses.

I thought I may have read the tag wrong and was actually playing a Custom Shop bass. Nope. It was an original.

Just saying all of this because I know sometimes Fender CS gets flak for being a bit pricey, and, although I love both of my basses, I didn't think that they were "actual" recreations of the classic versions, but just very well made and great playing basses.

Turns out the CS is actually doing a killer job of recreating these bad boys and making something that would cost twice what it charges if you found it out in the wild.

There's a new '66 Jazz bass in the 2020 collection. Journeyman relic in daphne blue, burst or black with rosewood board and pearl blocks & binding. I can't find any pics of this but it sounds cool.

Greg Koch does a Custom Shop walk through for Wildwood. The rep shows Greg these basses starting at 14:24.

I am about ready to order a Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass team build. I hope I'm in the right forum and sorry in advance if I'm not. I want to order the stacked knobs on the bass. Can anyone tell me the difference in tone from stacked vs V/V/T configuration? By your experience of course.

Thanks for the video link! Great info provided. I already have a Highwayman and Sadowsky Jazz with V/V/T so I think I will go with stacked controls for a different sound. I am thinking of candy apple red with matching headstock? Still undecided. I just love the feel/build on every one I have played. I am also thinking of compound radius on the neck. What are your thoughts?

Specs sound great...The CAR FCS does really pops...mine did and I know @Midak can attest...from what I’ve heard and experienced, the pre ‘64 circuit is a bit warmer/darker sounding (just a bit though)...I love both circuits and think they’re the best pure passive jazz circuits out there...enjoy and keep us posted..!
